“Hey, wake up, honey.”-Cam slowly woke her up.
“Oh God…”-She woke up with a huge headache.
“Hey, good morning. How are you feeling?”
“Like shit…”
“I imagine… C’mon. Let’s eat. You’ll feel better.”-He suggested. She got up and followed him to the kitchen. Everyone was there, except Ben.
“Good morning.”-She whispered.
“Are you okay?”-Danny asked.
“Look, Danny, I’m sorry about last night. I was drunk and nervous… Sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it. I know what it’s like.”-He smiled. She sat down but wasn’t able to eat. Her stomach was a mess.
“Oh, fuck this! I’m going outside for a while.”-She got up and sat outside, on the backyard. After a while, Ben appeared.
“Good morning.”-He said.-“How are you felling?”-He sat near her.
“Ehh. I’ve felt better and I’ve felt worse.”-Ben laughed and offered her a cigarette. She took it.
“Ever smoked before?”
“Not regularly.”
“I see. You know that you’re sitting in my spot, right?”
“Oh, wait! Let me take a selfie and put it in my twitter. Oh my god, I’m going to gain so many followers!”-She said sarcastically.
“I didn’t mean it that way.”-He laughed.-“I was just saying… It’s curious. You and I must have a lot of things in common.”
“Maybe… But you’re probably not going to find out because I’m leaving today. Just like I promised…”
“Do you have a place to stay?”
“Not really… I’ll find a way. Don’t worry.”
“Then shut the fuck up! You’re staying tonight. You’re my guest.”-He smiled.
“No, I said to Danny that I was going to leave today…”
“Fuck what you said to Danny! You’re staying, period.”
“Thanks”-She smiled back and then the silence took over. It was a comfortable silence. The one you only have with your best friends. They finished their cigarettes and went back inside.
“Kat’s staying one more night as my guest.”-Ben announced. No one really gave a shit about it. Danny, James and Sam were talking and Cam was playing his acoustic guitar. She sat near Cam.
“Cam?”-He immediately stopped playing.-“Sorry, can I… Can I play a little bit?”
“You know how to play?”
“I’m not as good as you but yeah… I do know how to play.”
“Here you have.”-He gave her the guitar.
“God, I haven’t played since I left my parents house…”-She started playing and singing Walk Away, from Five Finger Death Punch.
Everyone shut up and all you could hear was her voice and the guitar. Everyone seemed to be completely focused on her and she didn’t even realize it. Her voice was beautiful and the guitar was being well played. Her eyes were glued to the wall in front of her like she was remembering something. The truth is she was thinking about the good times she had with her parents. No one truly forgets their parents no matter what. They’re everything to everybody. Without them none of us would be here. She left her house when she was 16 and 3 years later, it still hurt. There were pain in her words and it was noticeable as fuck! When she finished, everybody was staring at her in complete silence.
