The determination to break the code of secrecy after her exams, was uppermost on Chiara's mind as Mr. Awkward advanced on her.
Chiara began to pray.
"Don't waste your time. No one can hear you!" He mocked.
Yet still, she kept on praying.
Mr. Awkward raised his hand to silence her.
The sound of a voice, sounded like music to her ears.
It was Miss Soon her neighbour.
"Chiara, Chiara are you ready?"
The voice came from at the front of the house.
Distracted, Mr. Awkward momentarily forgot his aim.
Chiara chose that opportunity to dart past him and out into the yard.
"Take your time girl!" Miss Soon reprimanded.
"Why are you still at home?"
Chiara grateful for the Blessing of her company replied
"My stepfather is at home. He was just asking about you. Come in and sit. He needs company."
Ensuring that Miss Soon was comfortably settled in the living room,
Chiara ran into the room, grabbed her towel and rushed to the bathroom.
After a quick shower, she dressed.
Chuckling to herself as she heard Miss Soon saying " No, it is okay, I have nothing to do. I can sit here all day and listen to your music."
