"max..." you two were still in the tent. He looked down at you.
"Hm?" he sighed.
"are your... parents, mentally abusive?" you asked.
"Where the hell did you get an idea like that, Y/n?" He questioned.
"i dunno..." you shrugged. "you don't have to tell me nothin', but how do your parents teach each other?"
"Well, my dad says that being a man means that you have to let your partner know that you're in charge. He tells my mom what to do, and when she doesn't do it, he screams at her. Sometimes they'll go into another room that i'm not in, or i'll leave the room. I'll hear glass breaking or shit like that... But, I guess that's just manhood. That's how my dad says love works..."
"max! that's awful!" you shouted. "you're such a gentleman... sometimes... anyway, how did you learn gentlemanly things? clearly this wasn't from your father..."
"It was from my mother. She taught me that I have to treat my partner like a god, but still stand my ground." Max explained.
"see, that's a way better lesson." you smiled.
"But even at that... My father is the only father figure that I have in my life... So I lowkey can't help but feel that what he's doing is right, even though it's not!" Max exclaimed. You nodded.
"see, i never had a mother role model, so i lowkey don't know what the ever loving fuck i'm doing." you chuckled. Max couldn't help but smile.
"I never want to go home again..." Max grumbled.
"but where will you go if you don't want to go home?" you asked.
"See that's the thing, I don't know. But i'm sure anywhere would be better than me house... But if I'm being honest, my current living arraignment isn't any better... Sometimes I just want to climb the top of a mountain and scream. Maybe, just maybe, it could make me feel better about everything, and maybe forget about it for a bit." Max smiled.
"hey, we're at camp. you can forget about it here. just repress it for now. i know it won't be easy, but it's better you try to forget rather than being angry the whole summer..." you explained to max as he leaned his head on your shoulder.
"I guess you make a valid point." He chuckled. "So what do you want to do?" You thought for a bit.
"i don't fucking care, let's just do something that will help you forget about your worries at home. i need you to feel better..."
