Marinette's P.O.V.
I heard the gasps when he announced me. I couldn't bring myself to walk out. I was frozen in place. What if they're mad at me for keeping a secret? What if Chloe goes into a tantrum? What if Adrien hates me? What if...w-what if they're disappointed!? Ok Mari, calm down. You can do this! I thought, trying to give myself a pep talk.
"Girl? They called you! What are you doing here still? Out! Out!" Alya pushed me out the curtains. I quickly caught myself before I fell. I would yell at Alya later, for now, I had a coronation to worry about.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Your princess and my daughter , Marinette Dupain-Cheng!" My dad, ahem, KING Tom announces. I smile and wave nervously. I walk to my dad and stand next to him.
"Welcome, citizens of China. Welcome to visiting guests from around the world." I say nodding towards my class, who, may I add, still looked extremely shocked.
"Although I have been in hiding for many years, I am aware of what a great nation that I will have the honor to lead with the help of my friends and family." I said with a smile.
"I, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, promise to take lead my country with fair decisions, equality, kindness, love, and strength. I will work my hardest to rule China in the best way possible. Thank you." I curtsy and step back. The audience cheers. The trumpets play as my mother, Queen Sabine, steps out of the curtains with a huge smile, oh and with Lady Gywneth. My mom was wearing the official crown.
"The current Queen, Sabine Cheng!" My father announces. He had been introduced earlier by a Kieth and Victor. The audience goes wild.
My mother kneels, I do the same, as Gwen removes the crown from her head and hands it to the priest who walks over to me. "Do you, Princess Marinette Dupain-Cheng vow to rule this country with all your might?" The priest asks me. "I do." I say, still kneeling with my head bowed. The priest places the crown onto my head. "Our new Queen! Queen Marinette Dupain-Cheng!" The priest announces. I stand up and cursty again. The audience roars.
I walk up to the podium again.
"May I present to you, the soon-to-be Duchess of Shanghai!" The crowd looked shocked. The quickly stood up, pushing each other to see who the duchess was. I giggled as Alya walked out with Lady Colette, strutting her stuff. I grinned. She kneels, turned in my direction.
"Will you, Alya Césaire, be a trusting and loyal Duchess?" I ask, smiling. "Yes, of course, Your Royal Highness." She smirks. I roll my eyes and take off Alya's current tiara. I hand it to Coco as Coco hands me the official tiara for Alya. I gently place it on Alya's head.
I turn to the crowd. "People of China! The new Duchess of Shanghai!" They cheer. It was pretty special to be chosen as the duchess of Shanghai for that was the only duchess position in China. (I'm so sorry if that's not true!)
"Now, enjoy the party! We will join you later!" My mother announces. My parents, Alya, and I are escorted by Ladies Gwenyth and Colette into different rooms to change into our party outfits.
