Next Day
"Jieun-ah! Here!" Yuri, my friend, shouted while waving her hand high up in the air as soon as the bells on the door chimed when I went in.
"I've missed you so— who's this?" I look at the man sitting quietly in front of her. "This, this is the lucky man I've always told you about!" We both screeched and jumped for joy.
We used to say that men were vile creatures and undeserving of our time and understanding so we ignored them.
Well, would you blame a twelve year old whose parents divorced because they bore a daughter and not a son, then her father who got custody of her put her up for adoption.
That's Yuri.I'm glad that a good family took her in though.
Without them, we could've never met and she could've never been happy."Taehyungie hyung! I'm so sorry I'm— You're here..." His stare met my gaze; when I got to my senses, I hid behind Yuri, trying not to get noticed than how I already was.
"Jieun-ah, I set you up to this so that you two would talk, please don't hide." Yuri whispered.
"I never knew that this was a murder or be murdered set-up!" I whisper-yelled.
She chuckled at how embarrassed I was,
"Let go of me Jieun and go to him. Mind you, he put a lot of effort to find you."I slowly recovered from my make shift hiding spot and walked a bit closer to him who was uncomfortably scratching his nape.
"I'm sorry if I had to, uhm, do this... I just didn't have the chance to give you a proper thank you." I smiled awkwardly,
"Just don't jump on train rails without me to pull you out and that's already a form of showing gratitude."We laughed, the couple behind us raising their eyebrows at our dark humour.
"Could we, ugh, talk?" He asked as we sat on the table next to Yuri and her boyfriend."Isn't that why you looked for me in the first place?" He'll probably notice who I am some time later but I don't want to care about that at the moment, I thought.
"Excuse me!" He raised his hand to order some dessert for us. "A chocolate cake please and —"
"Same for me." He smiled and nodded his head to the waiter.
A few minutes of chatting as if we've been friends since we were in our mothers' wombs while eating our carb-filled cake until,
"Why did you save me? You could've just left, you know?" I stopped smiling,
"I could've. It's just that I like meddling with people's business, it's so much more fun." I was sarcastic, none of it was fun- not the jumping and saving to the paying for your ramen and probably throwing my identity off the railing."You saved me cause it looked like an adventure of a life time? I don't think so..." He smirked. "Are you sure we haven't met before?"
I gulped but nodded. "You just happen to be my friend's boyfriend's friend. Nothing else."He let go of the subject then started teasing me for having a bit of frosting on my two front teeth since he questioned me about my life choices.
"Manager-nim"
My phone rang on top of the table. It flashed the caller's ID, great right?"Oh! Are you needed for work or something?" He asked as I put my phone on silent mode, ignoring the probably important call from my other other boss.
I'm glad that he didn't see the caller. Phew!
"Nah! That's probably just a co-worker trying to bother me or something.""Tell me where you work so that, maybe,
I could pick you up sometimes."
