Coming back home was a mistake. You thought so anyway. But by your mom's amazing idea to have you home for Thanksgiving and your dad's need for some old company, the decision to come back home was not entirely up to you anyway.

The airport is busy. Navigating your way through, you trip over multiple cases that came from all around the world. People file past eachother and the bustle keeps your mind awake as you find the nearest exit.

Walking outside into the hot, humid; Virginia air fills you with more than enough familiar memories. As you get into the waiting taxi you regret the trip before it even happens. You left this place for a good reason.

**

"Mom! Dad!" You shout when you get the the front door.
"Honey! Oh my goodness (Y/N)! Look how grown up she looks! Oh my!" Your mom yells to your dad.
"Come on now mom! I'm an adult now!" You say back.

Even you didn't believe yourself when you said that. You've been away at college for what's been probably the toughest six months of your life. Having no parents around is hard but you needed to get out of Mystic Falls. You had way too many bad memories here.

"I'm calling everyone!" Your mom says. "Get dressed (Y/N)! We're going to have company.!"

By this second you already know who your going to have to face. The boy who you couldn't help but falling for back in highschool. The young, sarcastic and incredibly good looking Jeremy Gilbert. The fact was there straight.  You were going to have to face him.

You had broke off whatever you had been doing with him before you left for college. He was still in school, only a year younger, but people made it seem like a decade. The memories that you have with him make your attraction strong but it was way too complicated to even think about going there again.

You head upstairs to get changed out of your ugly plane smelling sweats and stained t shirt.

**

"(Y/N)! Come down here please!" Your dad yelled up the stairs.

This was it. The revealing moment. Who would be down the wide set of stairs, you already knew, but what the reaction would be. Totally unknown.

You hadn't changed that much, you thought. Having gotten your ears pierced for the second time shouldn't make such a big difference, should it?

Walking down the stairs, your heart is about the come up your throat. That's when you see him. The once innocent looking boy, turned into what is now a bulky amazingly hot guy. But no. It is way too complicated, you tell yourself.

He gives you a quick look, almost acting surprised, but Jeremy has always been incredibly hard to read.

"(Y/N). You look absolutely stunning. " Elena says to you.

Thanking her, you move onto the next people to mingle with. The whole house is filled with guests you didn't even know your parents knew. A lot of things have changed since you left.

Walking over to the chip bowl, you feel eyes on you at all times. You wonder if they're Jeremy's, but hope not at the same time. What would you even say to him if he talked to you?

Grabbing a handful of chips you open the backdoor and step outside. You need some fresh air. The mingling, the compliments and the family was all nice but it could get a bit too much.

The evening air was smooth. Like a cold glass of orange juice, silky and compellingly drinkable.

You close your eyes for a little while before you hear the backdoor open again.

"Hey." You hear behind your back.

It was him. His voice lingered in your memories, too familiar to forget and too painful to remember.

You turn around to face him.

"Hi." You say softly back.

Jeremy comes over and sits by you on the steps from your deck. Centimeters away from you, you could feel his warmth and his aura surround you.

He reaches over and touches you and you don't object. Maybe you could start again? From where you left off?

He touches your face and all the way down to your neck, familiarizing himself with you again.

"You look different. Older. It looks good on you." He whispers in your ear.

The warmth of his breath gives you chills. And you automatically forget your past. You forget the heartbreak, the moving on and the fact that this can never work. You give into what he is trying to do.

You look into his still so innocent looking eyes and lean in closer.

Your surprised when your suddenly kissing him. The feeling and taste that you know all too well comes back and you give in. Touching his hair and his face and familiarizing yourself again and just wondering why you didn't want to come back.

Maybe it was fear. Maybe it was disappointment. Or even regret? It doesn't matter now though. None of it does, even though you know too well what kind of complications this can make. You made the choice.  The choice was up to you, not anyone else.

You came back to your hometown.
