I stood with Brandon and Danielle. Danielle and I run cross country, I have been running since I was in middle school. "Are you excited?" Brandon asked as I used him as a balance to stretch. "Yeah if we win, we get money for UCLA." I smiled. "I'm sure you'll win." He gently pecked my lips. People started to line up so Danielle and I followed them. "Good luck!" Brandon yelled to the both of us. We waved to him and waited for the race to start.
Boom!
Danielle and I started to jog with everyone else after the gun went off. Ariana Grande played through my ears as I jogged. I love listening to music so I can get in the zone.
Halfway through, we jogged through a forest. I was with Danielle and a few other people. I went through a small lake and felt water hit my face. I wiped it quickly before jumping over a small log. Once out of the forest, I could see the stadium nearby. "Go UCLA!" I heard some people say and I smiled softly before running faster.
I was in the lead as we got closer to the finish line. "Go Brit!" Brandon yelled and I ran faster. Our coach and teammates were cheering me on as I reached the finish line first. I smiled to myself and slowed down. I felt Danielle's hand on my back and I turned to hug her. "I got second!" She said into my ear and I smiled. We gave each other a high five as coach handed us both water bottles.
I laid on my bed and played with my charm bracelet. A small silver tennis shoe was on one of the hooks. My mom gave it to me after my last cross country meet in high school. I smiled softly and stared at the ceiling.
