My Cute Neighbor

Chapter 23

Mom gave me money to buy gifts for my friends and family. And Thomas. You know the reason.

I looked at different stores. I bought a t-shirt with a printed design for James, a make-up kit for Lexi, a dress for Ana, a toy race car for William, a necklace for Mom, a perfume for Dad, Aunt Tasha and Uncle Mark, and bangles in different colors and sizes for Ava.

Now I have to think of a gift for Thomas. Something with a good price but valuable. Oh! A watch! Good thinking Bella!

I looked for a watch that is not expensive, but looks good. I saw a black and silver watch, made of metal.The price is good, so I bought it.

When I met up with Mom, she bought a lot of things and two rolls of gift wrappers.

When we reached home, Mom put the things she bought on the table. I took a roll of gift wrapper, scissors, tape and a handful of giftcards and went to my room.

I put out all the things I bought and wrapped them one at a time. I wrote the names of the people I would give on the gift cards and taped them in their respective gifts.

I wore a sweater and pants, then a jacket. I took my scarf, gloves and beanie and went downstairs. I put on my boots and my coat. Lastly, I wore my gloves, put the beanie on my head, and placed my blue scarf around my neck neatly. Then I went outside our house and into the city.

I walked the streets in the city since I have nothing to do. The cold breeze hit my face. Then I walked pass a store where I saw a couple embracing each other. In a narrow alley, I saw a couple making out. Eeww.

I went inside a cafe' because it's warmer there and took off my scarf and gloves. I ordered a slice of mocha cake and a maple latte. When it was served, I cut a part of the slice of cake using the fork and ate it. I opened my phone and read stories on Wattpad while eating and having a sip of my latte.

After paying for it, I went outside the cafe. I put my scarf around my neck, wore my gloves and continued to stroll. Mist came out of my mouth as I exhaled. Snowflakes fall slowly, making the weather colder. The ground has some snow so it's a bit hard to walk quickly.

I saw Thomas not from afar, walking in my way. I don't want to talk to him right now. I cross the road and continue to stroll slowly on the other streets.

Then Thomas came into my mind. I'm ready to love him as he is too. But I don't want him to break up with Holly, to hurt his girlfriend. That is not right. So, I don't deserve him. He deserves Holly more than me.

I still can't figure out why he admitted to me that he loves me, when he's already taken. Why?

I'll just call Ana. I'm bored. "Beep boop beep boop. Kring kring. Kring kring. I came in like a Wrecking Ball! I never been so hard in love!" Wow. She has a new ringback. Is she going through something? Just kidding.

"Hey bes!", her cheerful voice

said. "You bored huh?"

"Yeah. I'm on the city and it's cold, and I 'm still confused and trying to figure out why Thomas loves me when he's in a relationship." I told her and exhaled.

"Talk to him. Ask him why." Ana adviced.

"I still don't want to talk to him. I've been hurt because he's taken and now I'm hurt even more. I don't even know if this is some kind of a sick joke." I said.

Maybe someone dared him to tell me that he loves me. But I know he's not that kind of guy.

"I don't think I can take it anymore Ana.", I sighed. "It hurts to try to forget loving to save someone's relationship."

"Don't say you can't take it anymore Bella. You are a strong person and I know you are. Be strong," she encouraged.

"Thanks for being a great bestfriend, Ana. Thanks for not getting irritated because I have lots of problems," I said and smiled even though she can't see it.

"You're very welcome," Ana said. "Well, Mom's calling me from downstairs, so-"

"It's alright. You have the freedom," I told her.

"Okay then. Bye Bella! Love you!" her cheerful voice came back.

"Love you too. Bye Ana!" I told her. 3 2 1.. hang up. I put my phone in my pocket and walked back home.

I smiled at the guard as I went past the gate. I continued walking at a fast pace.

When I reached my block, I walked slower than before. I sighed. Then my tears become watery. I remembered when I always sigh because of Thomas.

"Don't cry. Not now." I walked pass his house slowly. I looked at it. A house with white and gray colors. Tears streamed down my face. I ran to my house and wiped my tears neatly before going inside.

After a couple of minutes..

"Dinner time!"

We went downstairs and sat infront of the dining table. I put food on my plate and we talked while eating.

"Oh oh oh I forgot to tell you!" Mom said. "We are celebrating Christmas with the Sangsters!" My eyes widened a little. Oh no. That's why I had to buy gifts for them too.

"Really?!" William elbowed me and smirked. I fake smiled. I don't want to tell them yet.

"I bet Bella is really excited to see Thomas!" William exclaimed.

I faked laughed. Then I secretly pinched William on the thigh.

"Ow!" he flinched. Mom and Dad looked at him.

"Oh...uh..," I said, thinking of an excuse. "I think you got bitten by an ant there William." Don't want my parents to lecture me.

They believed it and continued eating. William glared at me and I raised my eyebrow. Then we also continued eating.

Why do we have to spend time with them on Christmas? Thomas and I will be awkward then.

We turned on the tv after dinner and watched the movie Parental Guidance. Plot: the parents need to go on a trip and no one will watch over the kids and the grandparents on the father's side is not available, so the grandparents on the mother's side need to do it. But those grandparents are kinda old school, and the kids are too hi-tech/modern, so they don't go really well at first. In the end, they got close to each other.

When we finished the movie, it was already 10. We said good night to each other and went to our rooms.

I went to bed after turning the lights off. I read some fanfics on Wattpad before falling asleep.
