All I could hear outside were the sound of crickets rubbing their legs together outside our window. I shifted slightly in my sleep, trying to get a better position.
To be quite honest, I'm grateful for my bed and all, but when you're sharing a bunk bed with your older brother, it starts to get uncomfortable. Combined with the noise of crickets, I could hear Jughead snoring from under me.
Looks like tonight is gonna be a long night.
I continued to try to get in the perfect spot, when suddenly I felt my bed vibrating. Sliding my hand under my pillow, I pulled out my phone.
It was Kevin.
"Kevin, this better be good-"
"I found Jason's dead body."
I didn't reply instantly as I tried to wrap my head around it. "What?"
I heard sighing on the other line. "Yep. And the worst part is, is that turns out, it wasn't just an accident on Sweet Water River. He was shot in the head."
I immediately sat up, pushing my hair out of my face.
"Are you serious? You're lying right?" I asked.
"Nope."
All this time, I just thought it was an accident. It seemed pretty real, when they found Cheryl on the edge of the river, all cold and wet. But who could have shot Jason? What could he have done to provoke someone? Or maybe it was an accident?
I plopped back on my bed, staring at the ceiling. "Well great, seems like Riverdale has gotten a whole lot darker."
"Yea, no kidding." Kevin responded.
"Remember things were so much calmer and.. normal when we were in middle school? Seems like all hell broke lose when we hit our fifteens."
"More like all hell broke lose when Cheryl hit her fifteens."
I laughed, resting my hand on my head, when I suddenly remembered something. "Hey, Kevin what were you doing outside in the middle of the night anyways?"
There was some silence.
"Kev..."
"I may or may not have been with Moose."
I quickly sat up again and silently screamed. "Are you serious? Football player, bullldog Moose?"
"Yes, nothing serious. Just having a little fun, that's all."
"Mhmm, right." I smirked to myself, biting my lip.
"Hey I gotta go, my dad's coming upstairs. See you tomorrow." He whispered into the phone before hanging up.
I turned my phone off, putting it under my pillow again while laying back down.
I couldn't help but wonder who was the killer. They had to be in this town. Maybe they're walking the halls of Riverdale High. Or maybe they already ran away. But if I've learned one thing in life, it's that secrets always find their way of coming out.

"So, Jason was really shot huh?"
Both Jughead and I were walking through the crowded hallway, trying to get to our first period.
"Yep. Kevin called and told me last night." I replied, gripping one of my backpack straps, trying not to bump into anyone.
"Great, Riverdale now has a murder mystery to solve."
