Since 2 months, Kaila was working on this coffee after he left his apartment and the university. More manly, he cut his hair short to finally look like what he truly was. He even changed his name and his tag had "Kai" wrote on it. And all the female clients seemed happy with this new employee. Himself wasn't unhappy with being that popular. But his pride put on side, he went to take an order from a client, hid behind the coffees' card.

"What is your order dear client?" He politly asked.

"A talk in private." The client answered.

When she droped the card, Anna saw her old best friend's shocked face. Quickly, Kai took her in the little alley near the building and leand against the wall while Anna sat on a wooden box.

"You changed your name?" She asked.

"It's in progress."

"You want to make an official transition?"

"I'll need more time. Administration sucks about this."

"You found a new apartment?"

"Not yet... Administration block me on this."

"Then why don't you come back?"

Kai was so shocked by this request he didn't say anything.

"After you left, I thought a lot. About you, me, both of us, my boyfriend, the three of us. I lived alone in a half empty apartment for 2 months. And I needed all this time to understand."

"Understand what?" He asked, mistrustful.

"You had been to my side for 20 long years. We lived everything together, shared everything. Being with you was just so natural. But when you're not here, I feel empty, sad, like if a part of me disapeared. I didn't stop to think about you, worry about you, to ask myselfwhere you were, what you were doing."

"Be more direct, Anna."

"I mean, I think we can't be friends anymore. To be honest, I think wehave never been friends."

The despair was so intense in the young man's eyes when her interlocutor said these few words.

"This friendship was everything for me so if you went all the way to say you made fun of me for 20 years you can-"

"I love you too."

"Sorry?" He asked, not sure about what he heard.

"You heard me. I love you too."

"But...?"

"It took me two months to realised. I was in love with you since years too. But I was so focused on be normal and have a boyfriend that I never realised: You were already a boyfriend to me. If you never left, I wouldn't have undertand this. I made some researches about trangender persons and... I don't care what's your gender, you're just Kaila... No, you're Kai, who even gave up his dream to let me be happy when I don't deserve it. You're Kai, the person I love and I always loved."

After some seconds when they only looked at each other, Anna got up fromher wooden box, went in front of her friend, stood on her tiptoes and kissed the waiter.

"Sorry it took me 20 years to notice it." She said, smiling and crying.

"Sorry it took me 20 years to tell you."

Once again, they kissed, holding each other, like promising they'll never be apart again.
