{Tuesday}
I woke up at 6:30 the usual time I get up for school. I sit up in my bed, but then realize I'm not going to school today. "Or am I?" I whisper as I show a smirk on my face.
I get up and put on something to wear, but in disguise. I call Jake and tell him I'm going to school. He tried to stop me, but I told him I'm sorry and this is for us.
I quietly sneak downstairs and see both my parents leave for work. Hopefully they don't come home early again. I make myself a coffee and bagel and head out the door.
I arrive to school and put my dark glasses on and beanie on, no one will know it's me because this isn't how I dress - perfect.
I open up my locker constantly looking to see if anyone is looking my way, but everyone is caught up in one big group. I walk up and down the hallway because I can hear Libby and Cameron specifically.
"Yeah, I saw his little night light in the corner," Libby giggles and yells while Cameron showed the pictures from their phones.
I decide to get myself caught, I know this is risky, but I need to do it.
"Excuse me, excuse me," I say, but end up shoving me way to reach them two. "These pictures look like they're from his little brothers room. That will explain your 'night light."
They both look at me and ask, "Who the hell are you? And I think we have the right photos, so get lost."
I don't answer, I just back away, but enough to continue hearing.
"They think we are going to let this all go, but how could we this is hilarious!!" Yelled both of them. Alexa just seemed to stand their with her arms crossed while Tyler had his arm around her smiling at Libby and Cameron.
All of the sudden the warning bell rings for first period and I need a quick hiding spot. I jump into the janitors closet as everyone escaped the halls, there was only one person heading past the closet - Tyler.
I needed to talk to him about Jake, how he can just stand there and laugh at him, but Jake's supposed-to-be best friend.
As he walks by, I quickly grab his arm and pull him in. I slammed the door and locked it from the inside.
"Oh my god, who the hell are you creep!?" He says.
Moment of truth, I take off my beanie and glasses and fluff up my hair. He looks at me and says, "Kara?"
I'm surprised he's not mad, he's just shocked.
"Tyler, hi," I said waving my hand back and forth from his face.
"Oh hey," he snaps out of it and smiles at me.
I don't get why he's acting so "nice" or "happy" around me, but I will crack him soon.
"Why did you pull me in here?" He asks.
First I tell him I got pulled out and if he tells anyone I'm here I'm dead. He's supposed to be my friend-enemy, so he better keep this promise.
"Tyler, why do you stand out there with Alexa under your arm smiling at all those comments about your best friend??" I kind of lost it a little at the end.
"Woah, woah," he says trying to calm me down. "Jake isn't my best friend anymore."
"Tyler, do you even miss him even as a friend? Do you even think about him?" I pushed.
"I mean sometimes, but we don't talk anymore, so I told myself to move on," he continues. "I'm sorry, but I have another friend now and officially girlfriend now, so don't try to convince me on taking him back."
I know he has Alexa, but I have to assume she's using him, that's the only reason why she wanted to break us up back in Freshman year - to say that she can actually be mean and rude. Tyler doesn't understand.
"Tyler, you're missing the point. I know we don't talk anymore besides right now, but Alexa has been always looking for attention and she's just using you. Don't you remember back in Freshman year, that's all she wanted to do," I catch my breath and then finish. "Tyler, I'm sorry for missing your class and for even talking to you, but you're still my 'lacrosse' friend and I always look out for you."
I reach for the door knob, but instead Tyler grabs my arm, then pulls me back against the wall and kisses me. My eyes are wide open, shocked. I try to shove him off, but he's too much muscle and I'm a stick. The only thing I need to do is to not tell Jake.
{Back at Home}
I decided to go home after, so I didn't risk getting caught the rest of the day at school or when I get home by my parents. I email my teachers for the work I'm missing.
I brew one more coffee and grab a warm blanket and turn some Modern Family, of course, if only Jake was here.
I wake up from a quick nap missing the warmth of which I would've had from Jake next to me if he was here. His mom wouldn't let him leave during the school hours when we are supposed to be there and not hanging together.
Hours pass by and my parents arrive home. They can't even settle back into their house without criticizing me.
"Is that what you've been doing all day? Just sitting there?" My mom asks.
I'm a little fed up, "What do you expect for me to do? You are the one who pulled me out of school. I did email my teachers and other things."
She looks away, rolling her eyes.
I also add, "At least Bailey isn't alone anymore during the day." Then I remember Matt's home.
They don't seem to notice I said that without noticing my brother, but I just needed reasons to help me keep the school-disguise secret.
