{Wednesday Morning}
I get up at 6:30 the usual time these past days. I get dressed into jeans and a blouse.
I walk downstairs and head over to the kitchen to make myself a coffee.
"Where do you think you're going?" My Mom asks.
I look up at her, "To school. I have it today."
"You're out for a month, it's been three days," she tries to argue, but then gets a notification on her phone from my principal.
She quietly reads out loud, "Hello Mrs. Kopyt! I am here to inform you Kara, your daughter, is allowed to come back to school. After an incident yesterday, Libby, Cameron, and Alexa were escorted off the campus. We will see Kara soon, thank you! Signed, Tristen Thule."
"See, I told you," I said walking out the door with a big smile on my face.
{School}
I open my locker and shove my bag in there and then slam it shut.
"It's good to be back," I thought. "Legally."
I walk over to Tyler saying hi to him.
"Hey Tyler, has Jake talked to you yet?" I ask.
"Nope, you showed him right?" He asks me.
I nod my head yes and say, "We kind of got in a fight yesterday. I don't know if he will even talk to me."
Tyler looks around, "He might not talk to you because he's still hurt of what I did to you and look at us now, talking."
"Yeah, well I'll see you in English," I say as the first bell rings.
{Lunch}
Everyone's back at our normal lunch table- Evelyn, Luke, Louise, Sam, Jake, and I. Tyler is back at the other table, but without them.
We are eating, talking, and laughing normally, even though laughing doesn't have to be "normal."
I look over at Jake who has his head down and eating slowly. I reach my hand over to his lap and open it, so he gets the idea I want him to hold it, he doesn't budge.
I look down with a sad look on my face and then lean over to whisper in his ear, "Jake, what's wrong?"
He looks up at me and his eyes are bright red. I quickly shoot up from my seat and pull his arm. I hold onto his arm through the hallway and then we reached the Janitors closest and went in, shutting the door behind us.
I look up at him, crying my eyes out. He still has his head down with a discouraged look. I step in and hug him. He takes a little step back because I pushed too hard into him.
We never said anything we just hugged and cried it out. Make up was running down my face. I pick my head up off of him, but he slightly pushes it back down motioning he doesn't care about his shirt.
As we were about to pull apart, the door knob twisted and door slowly opened. We quickly ran into the back of the room looking through shelf holes to see who it was.
Soon I have a clear focus on who it is, Tyler and Luke. We didn't say a word just eavesdropped.
"I don't know man, he isn't acting like himself now. If you sat at our table at lunch, he seemed pretty depressed," I heard Luke say.
"I think he's disappointed. He doesn't trust me anymore and now that Kara and I are talking, he feels disappointed that all the past is coming back to him. He feels as if it Kara and I happen again he can't stop it," Tyler said.
I look over at Jake, who clearly knew they were talking about him.
"I don't know how to win my trust back Luke," Tyler said.
Just then Jake shot up from crouching behind the shelves, brushed off the dirt on his pants and walked over to them.
"Don't worry, I trust you," Jake says, scaring the crap out of Tyler and Luke. He slaps them on the back, smiling. I still crouch down trying to pretend I'm not here.
"Jake?" Tyler asked.
"You're fine and everything you said was true," Jake says. "Sorry for being such a baby."
"Nah dude, you were always just the overprotective one and that never hurts," Luke said.
I am smiling so much that they made up. It warms my heart to see the squad back to one piece.
{After School}
I arrive home from school, walking into my house with such a temperature change. As I stand there I almost think I'm sweating just standing still.
I head upstairs to change into comfy clothes and pull out my homework. I'm trying to do my homework right when I get home, so I can spend my night relaxing.
I sit down at my desk, pulling out my books from my bag. Then my phone vibrates from someone calling me, it's Jake.
I take a deep breath and answer, "Hello?"
"Hey babe!" Jake says.
"Hi," I said. "What's up?"
"Wanted to talk to you about today," he says.
"Jake, I understand. I know what you were thinking and I get it you can be disappointed in your own girlfriend. Yes, I know you're sorry, but I should be the one who's most sorry," I say understanding.
"Thanks Kara, I know you were just trying to help. Thanks for getting the squad back to one piece!" Jake says, I could tell he's smiling too.
"It's good to be back, but not at the same time because I have a lot of homework, so I'll call you later," I said ruining the moment, as usual.
"Bye babes, love you," he says puckering his lips together making the kissy sound.
"Love you too!" I say hanging up my phone.
{Dinner}
Mom calls me down for dinner. As we all sit around the table, mini conversations always pop up to on big one including the whole family. This happened to be the 'incident' that brought me back to school.
"Tyler spoke up about Jake and how it's 'ridiculous' that they are bullying him like this," I tried to not mention the part when I was there. "Then he told them they're all fake and blah blah and the superintendent and security guards escorted them to the office."
"Wow, but at least they're gone now," My mom says. "For good."
