Chapter 7- WHAT NOW?

We get back to the truck and the kid is in my lap. Carson and I look at each other a moment. The kid still crying his little head off. I try to calm him "Hey little man." He looks at me teary eyed this is the first time I get a good look at him and he is a beautiful little kid. "You have beautiful eyes." It was the only thing that came to mind, but it helped he hiccupped and wiped his eyes.

"Thank you." He nearly whispered. I smiled gently at him.

"What's your name?" I ask.

"Luke."

"That's such a cool name Luke I have always liked that name." I say.

"What's yours?" he asked.

"I'm Allie and this is Carson." I say introducing us both.

Just then we hear a loud crash, I guess Carson wasn't sticking around to see what it was or waiting for something else to happen. He started the truck and we pulled out of the parking lot.

"What are we gonna do now?" Carson asked as we got on the main road.

"What do you mean?"

He just looked to the kid and I shrugged unsure.

"We take care of him or try to fine his family." I look to Luke. "Do you know where your daddy is?"

"Mommy always said he was" he stops a moment then says "well I can't use her words they are the bad one she always told me not to use, but I don't know." I nod.

"What about any grandparents?"

"They died in an accident."

"Oh."

"Do you have any brothers or sisters?" I asked.

He shook his head. "Well, would you like to stay with me for a while?" I ask, and a look of curiosity crossed his face.

"When will I get to be with my mommy?"

I just looked at him sadly then said "Well, your mommy is now with your grandparents." A look of realization and then sadness crosses his face and then he starts to cry again this time I didn't try to calm him I just pulled him to me and hugged him as he cried, he eventually fell asleep.

"What are we gonna do with the kid?"

"Take care of him, he has no one else."

"Where are we going, now?"

"Back to the house." I say looking at the sleeping child in my arms.

When we pull in to the driveway notice a new car and it looks familiar.

"Who's is that?"

"I think it may be Bea's brother." I replay as we get out and I wake up Luke.

"Come on, hun we're here." He opens his bright blue eyes and looks around sleepily while whipping his eyes. We walk up to the house, I knock on the door and yell for Carli to let me in. The door swings open and we walk in.

"Wow thank you guys for doing this." I say as I take in the sight in front of me. There are suite cases and bags of things they though we may need.

"What's with the kid? Oh, and my brother is here." Bea asks.

I nod, "Long story. Let's start putting things in my car and the truck then we will wait for Ryan and Jade to come back before we head out." I say and then told Luke he could go lay down or sit on the couch while we worked, he chose the couch.

Soon after Ryan and Jade showed up and with them was my cousin Jay.

"Oh my gosh!" I say rushing to him and hugging him close.

I pulled away and asked, "How?"

"Well I was out with little Jae (Jaeden his adopted little brother who has down syndrome) driving home and when I looked up from the road he was gone he just disappeared I looked all over for him and when I couldn't find him I didn't know what to do so I tried calling mom and dad then that's when I realized my phone wasn't working and I didn't know why or what to do. I was out by Ryan's and so I stopped by to see what I should do. I realized things were a little crazy outside and the more I noticed it the more I realized what was going on, so I just kept going to Ryan's and now I'm here. I'm actually about to head home and check it out, and get Ava."

"Are you coming back?"

"Yes."

"Do you want someone to go with you?" I ask.

"No, I'll be okay."

I nod, and he left.
