I never said anything about how my new room looked like and I did a good thing doing that.
Because when you actually get a chance to step in, instead of lolling around at the foot of the door like an idiot, you'll see just how utterly heart-warming the accommodations were.
Like the time when I tripped onto Tinas' bed trying to squeeze the way towards mine, catching her wide-eyed gaze as she looked at my face just inches from her nose. Didn't she just love the fact that our beds were that close together in the tight space? Must have warmed the insides of her heart.
And than there were the beds that I was a ninety nine point ninety nine percent sure made up of stuffed Hay. Got to give it to my darling relatives, wouldn't want to be non eco-friendly now would they?
Oh, and also I was astonished by how they provided us with an impecible peice of entertainment. I spend my whole night immersed in it, feeling the water drops leak through the crack and tap on my head until I decided it was better that I take a shower in the morning, switching sides.
When I finally fell asleep, I woke up feeling like I had barely blinked. My feet were cold- literally- when the stony expression infront of me made me realize exactly what type of blizzard was facing off at the horizon.
I blinked, "Uhh, Good Mornin'?"
"Get up," She snarled at me. I realized she was one of the blondes, and closer examination revealed that her red ribbon wasn't there.
No amount of silk could lessen her daunt, I tell you.
So I got to my feet and looked around at my surroundings. Out of seven at least four of them were asleep, all facing away from me.
Mable spoke up first, her gaze calcultaing, "Who are you?"
"Girl," Came my croak, thick with sleep. That's how I was introduced anyway.
They exchanged glances, "God is she half-baked?"
"Am I?" I mused, staring off into space. Than I giggled, "Half-baked. Baker, Baker, Charlie Baker. Cupcake icing, on my slippers. Lick it up, pass me an eclair. Don't suck too hard, leave some for your mother. Or we can make more together, Good boy Baker."
I giggled again. The sway almost made me land off my feet and onto my bed.
"Woah, wait up," I was grabbed by my shoulders and pulled back. Mable had her dark eyes zeroed on me, and as soon as I was stable she backed away and crossed her arms.
Keeping in track of her stamina, I was sure Aunt Dearest would absolutely love having her company.
I watched them all cross their arms simultaneously and for a moment I just wanted to laugh at the stupidity. There were four girls trying to corner me, me of all people in the household.
Did no one tell them that we had so limited space one could simply take a step forward and the rest he'll have to crawl through? How stupid...
How sad. I had no one now; my only parent and friend was miles away, my aunt treated me like a pocket handkerchief and her husband like an even staler one. And to put the fault on me, where it belongs, I didn't even try making friends now that I had the chance.
I sniffed, and only realized than how glossy my eyes were. Hurriedly I wiped an arm over my cheeks, proud that no drops of weakness had yet broken through. Now that I was wide awake, I held my head high as I glared at them.
"What do you want?"
They looked surprised by my snap, "Why, lower your voice-"
"I will scream and make sure none of us go to bed if you don't shut up and let me sleep," I stated, holding each of their astonished gazes.
I didn't wait for an answer; just turned around and jumped to my bed. From the corner of my eyes I saw them whispering to eachother and with a very bad feeling in my gut felt myself fading into unconsciousness moments later.
Remember what I said about that bad feeling? Well I had to rush to the bathroom just twenty minutes later. Finally when I had relieved myself, I opened the door and pulled my hands under the faucet.
In the mirror I checked my teeth, knocking against them to see if they were still holding fast. Perfect, now I can bite whoever crosses me without a worry.
Then I don't know why, but I was walking towards the laundry room, simply watching the messy surroundings. Spotting an over-flowing basket, I was surprised to see a teddy bear at the top, with a bow as red as a cherry. The teddy called to me and in a trance I walked to it, feeling the soft cotton in my hands.
Although it was a small room, there was a long slender window just beside the laundry basket, show-casing a revolving system of laundry strings from this window to a tree oposite to us.
I peeked, reaching on top of my toes, and sneaked my eyes to the left.
For a single second I saw a decrepit wagon standing still, a paunchy man sitting heavily at the front. I could only catch the floppy side profile when another man inserted himself from the corner, wrapped in a dark shawl which dangled to his feet. It was still before dawn but I caught his dark hair ruffle in the wind. He was all too well-hidden behind the shelter of the large tree.
With the loudest of gasps, I fell back, tumbling onto my behind. Quickly getting to my feet, I tried to shout, throw my fists at the window or cry bloody murder.
It was no use, unfortunately. They were gone.
The dark-headed twins; they were now on a dark road, accompanied only by their petrified expression and rushing tears.
