I’ve been wanting to write and publish this post for a while, don’t ask me why…
Because to be honest I probably couldn’t tell you. Other than the fact that I love writing letters and remember reading a post similar to this a few years back and loved it…
This is simply what it appears to be, an open, public letter to the man I’ll one day marry…
And yes, I’m young, but I’m a dreamer. So, take a minute and I’ll show you a little glimpse of my dreams.
Dear future husband,
Right now, I’m a senior in high school. I’m deciding where I want to spend the next 4 years of my life. I’m chasing my ambitious endeavors like usual. And I’m spending my free time, writing, capturing moments, and making memories. I wonder what you’re doing with your free time, if you’re praying and preparing for me like I am for you.
I wonder where, or when we met. Did I grow up with you? Did I meet you through a mutual friend? I wonder what our story is. Whatever it is, I know it’ll be my favorite.
You’ll eventually learn this, probably relatively quickly, but, I love to celebrate the little things. I’ll never get tired of celebrating who you are, and who you’re becoming. Ever.
I hope you’re chasing Jesus with all you’ve got. And I hope you pursue everything and anything you love with everything you have. I wonder how similar our stories are. I’m so eager to learn yours. To learn how you fell in love with Jesus, and what you feel He’s called you to make of your life. I can’t wait to worship with you, and to be your partner in furthering our Father's kingdom together. I’m eager to learn what your laugh sounds like, what color your eyes are, how loved you are by the people around you. I’m eager to watch you do the things you love so much.
I know you’re passionate, determined, motivated, full of pursuit, and gentle.
I know you’re a big dreamer, a good friend, and listener.
I know that you’ll be the best addition to my family, and because I love you, my family will too.
I know you respect authority, and fight for those you love, when needed. And I just know you’ll love to capture moments as much as I do. I can’t wait to make memories with you.
My love, I can’t wait to meet you, if I haven’t already, and fall in love, and chase Jesus together.
You’re my person, my best friend, and I can’t wait to be led by you.
With love,
Your Future Wife
Lauren
