"Oh my gosh I have nothing to wear!" I dig through my closet throwing things out on the floor as I go.I pull out a blue hoodie and swing it around showing Sarah who was sitting on my bed. "I could just wear a hoodie and jeans right?"
She looked up from the magazine and laughed. "no sweetie you can't just wear a hoodie."
She put the magazine down and started digging through my clothes on the ground.
"It's not a date so a hoodie and jeans would be fine." I placed the hoodie on the doorknob keeping it open for options.
It was already 6 and I'm having a breakdown. I know it wasn't date or anything serious because if it was I wouldn't be going. I just didn't want to scare him off.
I guess.
"Here." Sarah handed me a baby blue sweater. "Wear this."
"Oh so you'll let me wear a sweater but not a hoodie!" I loved hoodies.
"It's cute and casual." She got up from the floor and placed her hands on my shoulders. "Just what you need."
Sarah left the room so I could change. I put on the sweater along with some jeans and white vans. I guess I was comfortable, but she was right that it was cute and casual.
I walked out of my room and In the living room was James. Dressed in just a high school leather jacket and a white t-shirt. He looked comfortable.
Was I over dressed?
We both smiled at each other and walked towards the door.
"Well you kids have fun." She waved us goodbye and we were out the door.
We walked down the stairs in complete silence. God why am I so awkward.
When we got down the stairs we stopped. He turned and looked at me. "How do you like party's?"
Of course we're going to a party.
"I like them ummm a lot." I lied. I hated party's. I don't like being around drunk people. They're loud and annoying.
"Great." He turned around and showed me the way to his vehicle.
It was a old ford truck. I liked it. The way it had chipped paint and some rusty parts. It had a story behind it. Just like him.
We got in the truck and left. We went to downtown Memphis. The city was lit up from head to toe. Just absolutely beautiful.
"Wow it's pretty." I looked out the window as the buildings went by.
"Yeah the city is always pretty at night."
I sit back in my sit and look over at him. His eyes are glued to the road but he's smiling like a child.
"Are you from here?" He looked over at me.
"No I'm- I'm from a town called Germantown." I stuttered a little.
"Oh I played football there once or twice."
Woah he was a football player. Surprising.
"What about you neighbor?" I twisted around in my sit facing him. "What's your story?"
He looked over at me with a weird look. He was smiling of course. He was always smiling. He turned his focus back on the road. "Ive been here my whole life."
