I read the report Nat had submitted as if I hadn't read it ten times over already. I looked over the picture she took of the ID card again, trying to see if there was anything I missed, then closed the file and shut the screen down.

Apparently HYDRA didn't know when to quit. First they took Barnes, then killed Mom and Dad, stole the sceptre, destroyed SHIELD, and created the Maximoff's. Now they want more soldiers, and they are creating biotech to get them. God, I could see why Steve wanted to kill them so much. We finally had something we could have agreed on.

I wasn't thrilled to try and work with Barnes on this one, but it was good he was helping. After all, I'm sacrificing my time at home to make sure this doesn't get worse, and Barnes knew more about this sort of thing than anyone else. The sooner we put a stop to this, the sooner I get back to Pepper and Morgan, so might as well.

I hadn't seen Barnes in a while. I had tried to invite him to a few parties, but he declined every time. I wasn't sure why, but when I asked him, he said it had nothing to do with me, personally. I told him I was willing to let go of my parents' death, but he insisted that wasn't it either, so I'm..assuming it's about Steve. Explains why he cut himself off from everyone except Wilson since the Infinity War. At least someone was talking to him.

The door slid open and Fury walked in. "Well, you finally decided to visit."

I stood up and shrugged. "I've had other people to visit. Interfering with your business isn't high on my priority list anymore."

He snorted. "Well that's a relief, but I'm afraid HYDRA doesn't see things the same way you do."

    "Hmm. Wonder why."

He sat down and looked up at me. "It is good to see you, though. You've been doing better than a lot of the others since the War. You didn't have to come out here."

"No, I didn't," I retorted, sitting back down, "But I don't really want to see HYDRA do any more damage than it already has, so let's get to it. What's the plan?"

"The plan is to wait until Barnes and Romanoff get here so we can figure out why HYDRA bombed a local breakfast shop near the capitol."

"Isn't it just the usual? Bomb some random building, get people scared and the police interested, then pull some blackmail crime and destroy the world? Isn't that what usually happens?"

"HYDRA doesn't want to destroy the world, it wants to control it." He motioned toward a screen on the wall and pulled up a picture of the helicarriers that crashed into D.C. a while ago. "And they don't care who they kill to do so. Our job is to stop them before that happens. If we can find out where the jackarses are hiding, then we can nail them when they're not expecting it."

I gestured to myself. "And that's where we come in."

He nodded and leaned his elbows on the table. "One way or another, this is going to end in a fight. I hope you have your suit ready."

I was about to retort back that I always have my suit ready, but he held up one finger and cocked his head to listen to his earpiece. "They're here," he mouthed to me. "Bring them up, Hill."
