I don't know how long we were fighting for, but these things just kept coming. I guess it makes sense, seeing as there was almost 200 of them, but seriously? Like how about you try fighting multiple Captain Americas at once?
The worst part was that they had this learning program, and the more we fought them, the more they started to figure out what we were going to do. After the first five waves or so, I had to start getting a bit more creative.
Tony mostly took care of the cyborgs in the sky, and I defended the window as best I could from the roof. I was using my electro webs, but sometimes it was easier to just hit them off the edge of the roof. I tried to change it up so they couldn't tell what I was going to do, but I don't know how well I did.
My spider senses had been going off for a while now, with all of the movement around me. I tried to pay attention to what it was telling me, but it was pointing towards a lot, so when a fresh group of cyborgs snuck up behind me, I didn't realize until they had grabbed me. They started pulling my arms and legs, but with super strength, so it didn't feel that great. I heard Tony start yelling in my ear, telling me to hang on, but the cyborg holding my right arm suddenly let go, and when I looked up, his head was melting. The same thing happened to the one yanking on my left leg, and I attacked the other two with my free limbs.
I webbed them to the roof and turned to deal with the other three or so, when an arrow flew past my head and someone, probably Raven, yelled "Duck!" A moment later, the three cyborgs exploded.
It was nice to have an archer helping out.
I waved at her, and she ran up beside me. "You all right?" She asked, and I nodded, catching my breath. The next wave was a ways off, so we had a bit of time to get ready.
"Everything okay inside?" I asked her.
"Yeah, everyone should be good." Raven looked out in the distance. "How many do you think have come through so far?"
Karen started crunching some numbers, and showed me her estimate. "Probably about 160. These should be the last of them." I pointed out at the incoming group, which was pretty big. "Unless there's like a final boss at the end."
"If there was one, it would probably be Captain Rogers," she pointed out. "Or another vibranium cyborg."
"Great," I grumbled, but the last cyborgs were closer, and we didn't have time to think about it. I remembered a few of my favorite spy movies from the last few years and turned to her. "You remember that move in Operation Recall, when they did the kneel and jump thing?"
I didn't know if she had seen the movie, but she nodded and turned to the cyborgs. "Who's kneeling?"
"I got it," I told her. "Just get ready."
"I'll follow your lead, Parker."
I started running towards the pack and she followed me. About halfway to them, I dropped to my knees on the cold roof and she jumped on my back. She lept through the air on top of the cyborgs, and fired an arrow at the middle of them. I saw where her blast wasn't going to hit them, and started webbing up the ones she didn't get.
The two of us actually made a decent team. I switched to regular webs, and grouped up the cyborgs so she could take out multiple at once. She would cover me when I was melee fighting, since I had the spider strength, and she shot better from a distance. There was about fifteen or so on the roof, and we took out all of them in about 30 seconds, and I hope there was a camera around somewhere, cause it probably looked really cool.
Tony was still fighting some in the air, though. The cyborgs that hadn't gone inside were taking him on, but they knew his patterns well enough that he couldn't get a shot off on them.
"What's your plan?" She asked, and for a second, I didn't say anything. I was not in charge, and I definitely did not have a plan, but I didn't say that.
"Slingshot?" I suggested, and she nodded. I think we both kind of figured that I was throwing her, since I was stronger and she was probably going to do better being thrown. She stepped back and shouldered her bow, and ran towards me and jumped. I caught her arms and began to spin her, hoping that I wasn't hurting her. When she picked up enough speed, I let go of her and she flew into the sky, towards the cyborgs. I jumped after her, and started helping Tony take down the rest of the cyborgs.
She landed on the nearest one, and started shooting at the others while trying to balance on hers. It was actually pretty impressive, considering that it was trying to buck her off from 100 feet in the air. She took out three of them right away, and I started jumping from cyborg to cyborg, webbing them together so she would have an easier target. The cyborgs were distracted enough that Tony was able to fly around them and knock out the others. One of them tried to shoot Raven, but missed and hit the cyborg she was on. She jumped off towards me, and I shot her a line, so she wouldn't fall. I pulled the web and brought her to the one I was on, and covered her long enough so she could steady herself and start shooting again. I left that cyborg to give her space, and jumped to Tony instead. Sticking to him, we kept going until the only cyborg left was the one Raven was clinging to.
"Ready?" She yelled, and I nodded. Tony fired at the cyborg as she dove off, and I webbed her midsection, thinking that was better than pulling her arm off. While Tony finished off the cyborg, I jumped back to the building, and yanked on her line to stop her from hitting the roof at 25 miles an hour. I landed and caught her as she fell down again, and set her lightly on her feet.
"Thanks," she said, breathing heavy, and she held her hand up for a high five. "Nice work."
"Yeah, you too," I told her. I couldn't believe that she was totally okay with falling from 100 feet up, but I didn't say anything.
Tony landed beside us, and deactivated his mask. "Way to go, Katniss," he told Raven, before turning to me. "Nice job, kid."
I nodded and deactivated my own mask. My face was getting really sweaty.
"Is that all of the ones out here?" Raven asked, walking back towards the window.
"It should be," I told her. "Are there still some in there?"
"There was a few minutes ago," she said, kneeling by the edge of the roof. "Steve and Bucky might have dealt with them already, though."
"Better check," I told her, and she put a finger to her ear. "Steve, we're clear outside."
"Bucky and I are finishing up in here," he said, winded slightly. "If you guys want to check the rest of the floor, we'll meet you guys by the elevator."
"On it," I said, and webbed the corner of the roof. "Need a hand down?" I asked Raven, who nodded.
"I'm going to clean up our mess out here," Tony said behind us. "Tell me once we're clear inside, and I'll start bringing them in."
"Got it!" I said, and Raven and I slid down my web line to the fifth floor. I tried not to step on any of the broken glass as we walked to the hallway.
I looked around, observing the mess that was still there. "Which way do you think?" I asked her.
"Rogers and Barnes are that way," she pointed towards the left.
"Right it is, then," and we took of down the hall.
