Wilson screamed and leaped away from the green-gray water. He gripped his now black hair, gray eyes wide. This was insane! What happened to him!?
He had also begun to notice that his clothes were getting a little too warm. Warm... he's never been warm in his life. He only ever felt cold or scalding heat. Never increasing warmth. What was wrong with him?
He pulled his scarf off, hesitantly tying it around his waist. It felt odd doing so, but at least it wouldn't overheat him as quickly. He knew that it would feel like he was on fire if he kept the scarf on.
Quickly but cautiously, he began to walk through the surrounding trees, trying to find a landmark that he knew. He had never been in this part of Umbra, but if he kept walking he should be able to spot something familiar...
And he did. Fairly quickly actually. But it wasn't what he expected. No, it was the last thing he expected.
A young woman in a fiery dress, pigtails tying back her black hair, which no longer burned at their tips, a flame-shaped pin in her hair.
Willow.
Wilson was awestruck. Willow was here. But she was also different. He didn't feel intense heat radiating off of her. Her bright brown eyes had turned a dull gray as she turned to face him. They both just stared at each other for some time, too shocked to do anything else.
Willow moved first, running at Wilson, tears spilling from her eyes. "Wilson!" She cried, throwing her arms around his neck.
Wilson flinched, expecting the same burning sensation as the last time Willow hugged him. But she wasn't. Just the same warmth that he had.
Willow sobbed into Wilson's chest, making the man more confused. Why is she..? He didn't finish the thought. He suddenly knew. He had been going unconscious when he was sapped of his power. She might have been awake.
Wrapping his arms around her, Wilson allowed himself a piteous look. He didn't feel cold on the inside anymore. He... he felt himself pity the normally strong and high tempered goddess. Why? They were both always so mean to each other. But... he didn't feel anything when he had his power. Why did he feel something now?
They both stood there for a while, Wilson allowing Willow to be comforted in his arms. He felt heat creep into his cheeks, realizing that all the things he did to the fire Goddess were childish and stupid. Their rivalry meant nothing now. They were out in the wilderness, without any means of defending themselves.
They had to survive without powers.
