Even though I was on a different team, Tyson and I were still a couple. We discussed it as he helped me move to my new Pittsburgh apartment. We didn’t think that this should end us. Though it would be hard, we had strong feelings for each other and we were willing to work it out. We told each other how it’s not like one of us was home when one of us was on the road; I mean it would happen, but only for a day or two. Two days didn’t give us enough time to get into a relationship with someone else. Plus, we trusted each other… We loved each other… And that was enough for me.

Though my team played against the people who were like my family, we enjoyed it. We had so much fun playing against each other but in five years I was traded to the Avalanche. I was excited to get to play for the Avs and I was thrilled that I was traded.

I had made friends on the Penguins team. Sidney Crosby and I had grown close. We’re still friends even though we are on different teams and when at practice before we play each other we take a few minutes to talk to each other. We would also text and FaceTime a lot. Tyson made sure to be in the room when we FaceTime, but it was a lot of fun.

“Good morning baby.” Tyson whispered into my neck.

“Good morning.” I laughed rolling over.

He kissed the top of my head and then my nose before he got out of bed to make us breakfast.

“Are you feeling okay?” I questioned.

“Yeah… Why?”

“You are making breakfast… You are cooking… You must be sick or something!”

“Ha. Ha. Very funny. Can I just cook for my beautiful girlfriend without being sick?”

“No.” I joked sitting up.

“I just want to… I kinda want today to be… Special…”

“Because today is the day we play for the cup?”

“Yeah… That’s it.”
