BELLAMY"We're going to the hospital," I say to Roma the minute she opens her front door.
She pales. "What? Bellamy--,"
"Let's go," I interrupt her.
"Are you crazy? It's 2 am!" she exclaims. I go up to her, and grab her wrist lightly.
"Look me in the eyes and tell me you're pregnant," I order her.
"I'm pregnant," she complies, staring me directly in the eyes. My stomach plummets. Shit.
"Is the baby mine?" I ask next.
She hesitates. It's only for two seconds, but it's something.
She looks down. "Who told you?"
"So you're saying it's mine?"
"I mean, yeah...," she looks left and right to see if anyone in her house is listening. "We really shouldn't be talking about this here, Bellamy."
"Great. We can talk about it in my car on the way to the hospital," I urge her forward and out of her house. She's wearing pajamas, but I don't think twice before ushering her into my car.
"Is this really necessary? Pregnant women need their sleep," Roma attempts an escape. I see right through her.
I take her hands in mine. "Listen, Roma. If what you're saying were to be true, I would do anything I could for you and the baby. I would never intend to put this on you. It's a person, you know? Neither of us are ready for this," I explain. Her vision starts to blur as it becomes watery. "But I know that this baby isn't mine," I shake my head and a tear drops from her eyelid. "And now I'm going to need proof of that for a girl that I"m in love with."
Her face tenses and she becomes angry. "How could you doubt me? The mother of your very own child? What the hell is wrong with you? You need help!" She screeches and I step on the gas.
"So, I this might be considered kidnap, but what you're doing is a whole lot worse, okay? You're ruining lives! Mine! Clarke's! Lincoln's and Octavia's! It sounds like you might be the one in need of help." We're only a couple minutes from the hospital, and my heart is rushing.
Could this baby be mine?
I don't think twice about it before we're in the waiting room for the doctor.
--
"The tests do not match," the doctor says. "You're not the father of her baby," he pats my back.
I take the deepest breath when Roma's sobbing commences. It tunes into a background noise as I can feel my heart slowing down in the most calming way.
I'll find Roma some help, but first I have a girl to catch. And when I do find her, I'm never letting her go.
