"Kendall I...I don't...I'd love to, I really would but..."
"There's always a but isn't there?" he chuckled.
"It's not that I don't want to go on a date with you, trust me I really really REALLY want to, but it's just...my parents..."
"So what I'm hearing is that if your parents approve you'll go with me?"
"I'd go in a heartbeat!"
"Well then c'mon" he said as he grabbed my hand, interlocking our fingers as he did so, and started pulling me towards the door.
"Kendall, where are we going?"
"To get your parents approval, duh!"
Oh boy, I thought, well here goes nothing I guess.
The two of us went bursting through the door with Kendall still grasping me by the hand. When we reached the others my mom was already there, too.
"It's about time you got back!" Jenna exclaimed.
"What happened to our '30 minutes top' deal?" my dad asked.
"Look daddy I'm really sorry. We started talking about stuff and time got away from us and-"
"Well time is up, let's go" my mom said cutting me off.
"Actually Mr. and Mrs. Bullock, may I speak to the two of you? Privately? It'll only take a minute" Kendall stepped in.
My parents gave each other a look and I was just silently praying that they'd give him a chance to talk to them.
"Sure, Kendall," my dad said, "wait out here for us girls."
We did as we were told and sat down with Dustin. Dustin leaned over to me and whispered, "Don't worry, he knows what he's doing."
Too bad Dustin didn't know what Kendall was actually up to.
Kendall stole a quick glance before he closed the door to the private room and winked once more at me. I just hope Dustin is right...
*Kendall's POV*
What have I gotten myself into? Here I am about to ask two total strangers if they will let me, a total stranger, take their daughter out on a date. I crossed my fingers and began talking.
"Mr and Mrs Bullock, I understand that I may be totally out of line here, but I feel so strongly about this that I'm willing to put myself out there. So here it goes..."
Then with one big breath I told them everything I had told Celine.
I told them about how she had taken my breath away when I first saw her, how she was the face I searched for in the crowd, how I felt so alive and free singing with her, and how I wanted to take her out on a date.
When I came to the end of my little speech, no one said anything. I waited anxiously for one of her parents to say something, anything really, but all I got was the two of them looking right back at me.
That was until her father spoke up. "Kendall, we appreciate you coming to us but-"
Then he was cut of by Celine's mom. "John, don't. You know just as well as I do what Celine thinks of this boy. And right now, it seems as if he thinks and feels the same way about her." she countered.
It was silent for a few moments before he spoke again. "Alright young man. You can take her out on a date."
I was so ecstatic at his response that it took all the self control I had not to jump up and down and scream like a little girl. Thank god I was able to play it off, thanks to my LA cool.
"Thank you so much sir. I have one more thing I'd like to talk to you about though."
"And what would that be, Kendall?"
"You see, sir, I'd also like for Celine to come with me to our next show tomorrow in Pennsylvania. That would mean us going on our date tonight in Raleigh and then her coming back on the tour bus tonight and traveling with us to Pennsylvania. She'd be able to sleep in an extra bunk and go to the show tomorrow night and I'd fly back home with her the next morning. I know it may seem like I'm trying to push my luck, but I just want to spend as much time with her as I can to see if these feelings I have for her are a real as they seem. What do you say?"
Her parents looked at each other as if discussing the situation without actually speaking. I nervously started biting my nails until I saw her dad slightly nod his head.
This time it was her mom who was making the final decision. "That sounds perfect, Kendall" she said.
I looked at them in disbelief, I can't believe they're actually going to let her come with me!
"Thank you, I promise you won't regret it" I said as I stood to hug her mom. I stuck out my hand and as her dad reached to shake it he looked me in the eye and said, "Just remember, she's my little girl." I never broke eye contact with him as I said, "Don't worry, sir. I have no intentions of hurting her. Ever."
He gave me a soft smile and headed out the door with Celine's mom following close behind.
*Celine's POV*
As soon as I heard the door open, my head shot straight up. I searched each of their faces for any sign of emotion whether it be anger, confusion, or happiness but I came up short. They all had the same blank look on their faces as they approached.
When Kendall got next to me I tried looking into his eyes to see any trace of emotion, but he shied away from me.
I knew this was too good to be true, my parents had said no and my dream had come crashing down. I hung my head and reached for my jacket.
"Well I guess this is goodbye" I said while looking at Kendall, but he still didn't look at me.
"I guess you're right" a voice said, but those words didn't come from Kendall's lips; they came from my dad's.
"C'mon Jenna, let's go. We'll see you later sweetie" he said as he pulled me in for a hug.
I was shocked, had they really said yes or was this some sick joke like the concert tickets had been?
Next my mom hugged me and when I pulled away I gave her a questioning look. All she did was smile softly and turned to walk away with my dad and Jenna.
There's no way, I thought, maybe they're just going out so I can say goodbye to Kendall alone-
My thoughts were soon interrupted by the presence of an arm slipping around my waist and a hand coming to rest on my hip.
I lifted my head and there were those dazzling green eyes of his, only this time they were full of happiness and excitement.
"So, how 'bout that date blue eyes?"
