It was nightfall and (Name) was glad to see the sun finally going down. The heat had practically been baking her alive as she walked. It was at the end of her four hour trip that she reached her destination. A bus station in the Daejeon area.
(Name) was relieved to get there, but it was a sketchy neighborhood when the sun went down. It meant the end of the heat, but it made the activities of the area change also. Rather than people busily walking around to get on the bus for work there were thugs lining the gaps between buildings. The thought of such people made (Name)'s skin crawl.
Being too wrapped up in her thoughts she didn't notice the man come up behind her. The smoothness of sharpened steel on her neck made (Name) feel like vomiting. Her heart pounded in her ears accompanied the nausea.
When the man spoke his low gruff voice left (Name) clinging on every word. His slow demands were all that mattered as the world around them melted into nothing. He wanted all her money she had on her. Panicked, she agreed and with shaking hands she handed over her entire bag. His temperament seemed to worsen as the seconds passed, and she was afraid to be cut so she wasted no time and gave him the entire bag. He had long since moved the knife from her neck so she could remove her backpack, but she couldn't run from him; she was too scared to move her legs. She gave him more than what he wanted, and he left her be afterwards.
She was left there shaking, at the bus stop, in the night, with nothing, and it felt so much worse than what she imagined getting cut by that knife would have felt. The vulnerability made the nausea stay despite the man having gone away. It didn't shake her though. The feeling of having nothing settled her down in a deep type numbness she had never felt before.
(Name) didn't know what she was doing when she stood up. Her instincts took over as she looked at the way the robber had run off, and chased after him. She had nothing. Nothing at all to lose, but everything to gain. The emotion she felt the most at that moment was anger. She lost everything she had because she was weak. She had a weak mind even though she had a strong body. It was frustrating, so she needed to fix it right then. She'd set her mind straight with evidence of the strength she had.
(Name)'s chest heaved from all the running. She had caught up to her attacker, and followed close behind him as he entered a section of the city being renovated. It was empty except for some scaffolding, the starting structures of buildings, and them.
(Eye color) eyes watched him from behind nearby scaffolding. They narrowed seeing him ruffle through the bag for valuables. She watched him pull out a stack of cash and then throw the bag off to the side. He seemed to have everything he wanted, yet he remained seated on a steel beam as if he were waiting for someone else to arrive.
(Name) clenched her fists. She needed that money back, and if she waited it might not be a better opportunity, so she moved so she was facing his back while still being hidden. (Name) reached her non-dominant hand down towards the ground and scooped up some debris in it. Tip-toeing between her hiding space and the man she remained silent and unbreathing. Her lungs hurt from lack of oxygen by the time she came within striking distance. She used her free hand and arm to chop near his Adam's apple.
The assault made the young man whip around while wheezing. She seized the opportunity to throw the debris in her hand into his face, and then to a swing and blindsided the large man. He stumbled backwards before falling onto the ground. (Name) still needed the money he had in his hand, and with the pocket knife still hidden on him it was a dangerous situation. She ran up to him hoping to take the money out of his grip while he tried to remove the dirt and other debris from his eyes.
The cash was lodged firmly in his hand, and she couldn't remove it. With the man having almost cleared his eyes (Name) had to act quickly. She almost felt bad kicking him while he was down, but there wasn't much empathy left after what he had done. She repeatedly kicked her foot into his face until he was barely conscious. At that point he let the money drop to the ground, so she grabbed it while she could. Shortly after she found her discarded bag as well.
Taking a side glance at the man on the ground (Name) started back in the way she had come. If she was lucky she could make it to the last bus of the night in time to make it to central Seoul. About to begin jogging her way there she heard the sound of tiers pull up, and the parking of a car. Behind her the lights were blinding.
