Broken Promises

The Beginning

Clary walked into the institute, her green coat that Luke got her tightly rapped around her. She walked down the hall, her boots gently clicking against the stone floors and walked to Isabelle's room. Clary knocked on the door with 3 gently knocks. Isabelle opened the door to see clary looking cold and excited. "Hey Isabelle can I talk to you a minute?" Clary said excitedly. " Sure, come inside," Isabelle responded, beckoning Clary inside. Clary went over to sit on Isabelle's bed and Isabelle joined her. "So, what's up?" Isabelle said calmly. "Well it's Jace and I's 3 month anniversary-" Clary was cut off with an excited Isabelle. "Oh my god clary! What are we going to do! We should through a party!-" Isabelle beamed. "No, no Isabelle I was just going to go to Taki's and get some food for Jace and I, you know surprise him with lunch," Isabelle's deep smile faded into a gentle one. "Okay, just be back soon okay?" "Okay" Clary said gently. Clary got off the bed and when to the door, she left to go to Taki's.

Once Clary had gotten Jace and her food she headed back to the institute. She walk quietly with her sword clicking against her leg as she walked. Clary looked down at her body. She had gotten bigger hips and curves and longer legs, she had also gotten a sharper face with small cheekbones. By the time she had looked at herself she was surprised to see she had arrived at the institute. She looked at her watch. It said '6:00' . Clary sighed and said quietly to herself "Just in time."

Once Clary was inside the institute she headed to the kitchen and heated up the cold food in the microwave. When it finished Clary took out the food and headed to Jace's room and quietly opened the door a crack, she peered inside only to find Jace and a brunette rolling around kissing in his bed, whispering intimate words in each other's ears like "I love you", "this is great" and then all the words stopped when Jace and the brunette heard the plate of food crash to the floor and smash into a million pieces like Clary's heart. A tear slid down Clary's cheek and hit the floor. The brunette tried to cover herself with the blankets but Jace just stood there astonished with only a pair of jeans on. "C-cla-ry... Please I-" but Clary didn't hear the rest because she was running down the stairs of the institute to find herself at Isabelle's room. Clary banged the door still crying, she heard Jace calling after her. Isabelle opened the door immediately. "Clary what's wrong?" Isabelle said, her voice full of concern. Clary heard footsteps and Jace yelling "Clary! Clary please!" "Get into my room, now." Isabelle said in a low voice. Clary stood behind Isabelle and heard them arguing at the door way. "What the hell did you do?!" Isabelle said sternly. "I-I um" stuttered Jace. "Spit it out!" Isabelle yelled. "Just let me talk to her,

please" Jace said with a pleading voice. "No" Isabelle said and slammed the door in Jace's face and locked it. Then she came over and sat on the bed next to Clary. "Hey, hey it's okay, everything is going to be fine." Isabelle said sympathetically. Clary sobbed " I-I know."

"What did he do? What happened?" Isabelle said gently.

Once Clary had told her the whole story about Jace cheating on her with some brunette Isabelle looked furious. "He's dead! I'll fucking kill him!" Isabelle unlocked the door and yelled "JACE LIGHTWOOD! GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!" Clary heard two pairs of feet coming down the stairs. "What's going on?" It was surprisingly Alec's voice. "OH DIDNT HE TELL YOU?!" Isabelle yelled, fury bubbling in her eyes. "HE CHEATED ON Clary WITH SOME SKANK!" Isabelle screamed. "What? Jace?" Alec said. "I-I um I'm sorry" Clary had had enough, she wiggled her way past Isabelle so that she was standing in the doorway beside Isabelle with a tear streaked face. Jace took a step forward but was only restrained by Alec. "Clary please, I'm so sorry, I-it was a mistake, I-" Clary cut him off by saying, " How long has this been going on? What's her name?" Jace looked confused, surprised. "What?" He replied gently. "You heard me." Clary said sternly, she was surprised at how steady her voice was. " it's been going on for a month," he looked down, ashamed " I don't know her name.." Clary looked at him with an angrily and sad look at the same time. "You've been doing... This... For a month?" Clary whispered. "Y-yes and I'm so sorry Clary, it's was a total mistake, I still love you Clary, please-" Clary pushed past him, Alec and Isabelle. Then she turned round and looked him in the eye and said steadily, " your not sorry, you never loved me." Then she sprinted down the stairs and her Jace calling her " Clary please, I am sorry, I love you and I always have! Don't leave, I-" but Clary didn't hear the rest, she was already outside in the fresh air and was running to Simons house.

Jace's pov:

Jace racked his hand through his hair, and looked at Alec and Isabelle. "Well done! Now we've lost Clary." Jace regretted every moment of his thing with that brunette, he didn't know what had come over him. The next thing Jace knew was that he was pinned up against the wall by Isabelle. " How could you? Look what you pave done, broken her heart, she loved you Jace! She got rid of the best thing that ever happened to you and you also broke it. She loved you but it doesn't seem that you loved her." Isabelle said in a strict tone. He pushed Izzy off him and sprinted down stairs at inhuman speed and ran to the institute doors and flung them open. He saw a glimpse of Clary's red hair and sprinted after her. He grabbed her wrist. "Look Clary I'm so sorry-" he said "No your not! You never loved me, and you never will!" Clary yelled with tears coming down her face, that just that broke his heart into tiny pieces. "How do you think I feel! You cheated in me with some brunette for a month! What would you do if you came home from Taki's and was going to surprise me for are 3 month anniversary but I was cheating in you! Whispering in his ear 'I love you' over and over again?! Then having your heart shattered unto millions if pieces! I trusted you ! I loved you Jace! But it's clear that you didn't love me back." I imagined the scenario in my head and I felt awful, what have I done?

Clary's pov:

He just stood there, thinking, still a hard grasp on my wrist. His grasp loosened and I took this chance to run. I ran and ran until I couldn't hear him yelling my name anymore. She was finally at Simon's and I banged at the door with my fists. Yelling "Simon!" He came to the door and opened it. "Clary? Clary are you okay?" He said his voice full if concern. Then Clary broke down crying. Simon carried her inside. He set her in his bed. "Clary?! Clary?! Are you hurt?!" Simon yelled. Clary still sobbing managed to say, "H-he cheated on me." Simon was astonished and furious. "Tell me the whole story." Clary told him the whole story bout coming back from Taki's and finding Jace making out with some brunette and whispering 'I love you' over and over again. "He's dead! I'm gonna bloody kill him!" Simon yelled. "Simon d-don't." He looked at her and then Clary then fell asleep.

2 years later

Jace's pov:

Jace was in his room and was looking at the ceiling when he heard Isabelle screaming excitedly. He left his room to find out why Izzy was yelling, he ran down stairs to find Isabelle and Alec hugging someone. "Who is it?" I asked curiously. Izzy and Alec stepped back to show who it was. It was Clary. "Clary's back!" Isabelle screamed and laughed. "Clary?" I asked. "Hey" Clary waved a little. Wow Clary had changed. She had long, thin legs, a thin waist, biggish boobs, biggish curves

, a thin striking face, she was the same height as Isabelle and her hair was a little darker, the crazy curls he had once know were know calm and a little curled at the sides, she was gorgeous. "H-hey" Jace blushed deep scarlett, Izzy looked at him curiously, tilting her head a little to the side. Izzy then directed her attention to Clary again. "Where have you been? Where did you stay?!" Izzy asked excitedly. "I stayed with Simon." Clary smiled, her smile was amazing and her voice had matured a little. "Oh" Isabelle said calmly. "Well we have so much to catch up on!-" "Um actually can I speak to Clary for a minute?" Jace asked sheepishly. Isabelle looked at Clary, "are you okay with that Clary?" "Yeah it's fine." Clary replied calmly and smiled. Isabelle and Alec left the room and went upstairs. "So how have you been?" Jace asked. "I've been good." She replied. " you look... Different," Jace said quietly. Clary looked puzzled. "A good different?" "Yes god yes a good different," Clary blushed "thank you." She smiled. "I'm sorry Clary for what I did." She looked down, a sad look in her eyes. "I'm sorry I wasn't good enough for you." Jace was astonished. "Clary that's the problem, your too good for me, you're always been too good for me, I don't know what was going through my mind when that happened, I love you Clary." She looked at him strait in the eye. "You mean it?" "Of course I mean it," he replied. She pulled away from my grip. "Jace... I'm scared that I'm going it get hurt again... Because if you..." She put her head in her hands. "Clary I promise I will never hurt you, I love you Clary." "That's what you told me before... You told me you loved me, but that was a lie, you told me you would never hurt me, and that was a lie, you broke my heart into tiny pieces." Jace strode over and kissed Clary, she kissed back. "Jace.. Don't hurt me ever again ok?" "Of course."
