(TW: blood, murder, killing)
"dun. over here."
"you better have a damn good reason for pulling me out of bed at 3am, urie."
"come on, its not like you were sharing it with anyone." Brendon retorted.
*Brendon, who josh only called Urie, was the best thing josh could call a friend. They met when dun first became a detective, Brendon was instructed to show josh the office and where his desks would be, coincidently it was right across from his. their friendship started off slow; with urie bringing him coffee and then josh would return the favor. then it became drinks, then josh would drive him home because he would be shitfaced.
in one particularly tequila filled night out Brendon was fucking plastered and as josh was laying his drunk ass on the couch, urie said "mmm-h hey josh! We should be like friendsss." And then immediately proceeded to pass the fuck out. which is basically their friendship in s nutshell.*
josh just chuckled at the comment.
He is right, I haven't been laid in ages.
and grabbed a black coffee, hoping that chugging the bitter drink would stop his eyes from drooping.joshua william dun had been a detective for 4 years now, he started off in law school wanting to be a lawyer, that sure as hell didn't pan out. Josh thought he would serve justice, put the guilty behind bars, and set the innocent free... boy wasnt he fucking stupid.
he soon realized that he didn't care about what code means what law or how to properly win a case. he wanted to study the sick fucks that kill and torture, get in their minds and pick apart their psyche until they unravel like a spool of thread. so, he started interning at the B.A.U. and worked there for a year, he worked his ass off at school to get that job, graduating with a 4.0 and top of his class. his university saw his potential and pulled some strings at the B.A.U. but was eventually moved to be a detective. blah blah blah 5 years later and here we are.
"i know you've bee working the Miller case, but its kinda all hands on deck for this one." Brendon said looking at Joshua with an apologetic look
Josh looked through the double sided glass to see a brunette sitting in the interrogation room, cuffed to the table. The suspect seemed to be studying the cuffs around his wrists. josh's eyes widened a bit as he saw that the stranger wasn't in fact staring at the hand cuffs, but the blood dried on his hands.
Wait, what the fuck? Josh thought as he squinted his eyes. is he smiling? he was right, the suspect had a slight curve in his lips, and the his eyes were now rolling back as he let out a chuckle.
"brendon who is this guy?" josh asked not taking his eyes off the stranger.
"lets see..." brendon said as he flipped through his file " his name is tyler robert joseph, he is 26 years old and his first offense was when he was 17 when he, uh, killed his whole family... holy shit."
"jesus."
"yeah, and get this, the police had him into custody and questioned him. but apparently he was so good of an actor he got the cops to believe it was his neighbor and that ' his neighbor would watch his family and always made his parents uneasy whenever he came over, which was a lot'. The police said tyler didn't stop crying for hours and that just his voice brought some of the officers to tears themselves. He was said to have multiple panic attacks crying out things like 'why did this happen, make it stop, and mama in so sorry.'
Which, were latter proven to be all fake. he lied right through his damn teeth and convinced every cop and agent on the case the neighbor did it, and he walked right through the front door of the police station with a cop to escort him.""the fuck, he started killing when he was only 17? and nobody suspected anything? no clues or singes of what he really was?" josh said as he walked over to brendon and started reading tyler's track record over his shoulder.
"no" Brendon said flipping through his high school records "he was top of his class, was on the, basketball team and volunteered at every charity event."
"wait, if he got everyone to believe he was innocent, how come he got caught?"
"thats the thing, they brought in the neighbor he accused, who's name is...andy hurley. Andy begged them to believe he was innocent, the cops pulled up some security camera footage and sure enough he was at a flouriest shop buying flowers for his wife."
"so the kid got too cocky and thought he could get away with it scot free, typical." he said rolling his eyes, and returning in front of the glass.
"don't get ahead of yourself there, dun. apparently after it was proven andy was not at the joseph house and couldn't have been guilty, the cops figured they needed to bring the tyler back in, and figure out what the hell was going on. when they got to the safe house they took tyler to, the cop that was suppose to be keeping a watch out for his safety wasn't at his post. they busted down the locked door and found the officer stabbed to death 26 times, on the floor and on the wall, written in blood was 'got the wrong guy'. no trace of where tyler fled to, and we haven't been able to track him down...until now."
josh's mouth was wide open from shock "all at the age of 17." he muttered to himself. "Wait, wait...if he was so careful then how did we catch him?"
"that's the weird thing, he was just sitting at the crime scene, he killed a whole family he didn't even know. and just sat there, gun men surrounded him and he didn't flinch."
"thats it, I'm going in there." josh said taking off his jacket.
"josh" brendon said catching him by his arm " be careful, he's a smart one and will try to get into your head...dont let him."
"i won't."
josh unlocked the door with his key card and stepped into the interrogation room.
tyler's eyes darted to him and looked at him up and down
"mmmm i love when they bring in the sexy ones." tyler said a sing song tune in his voice, his whole body moving like a serpent enchanting it's prey
josh ignored him and pulled out a chair and sat down on the opposite side of Tyler
"Mr. Joseph, you hav-" josh was cut off suddenly.
"oh, the detective speaks!" He said biting his lip, dragging it against his teeth.
"and what have i done? have i been a bad, bad boy? are you going to have to punish me? look" tyler held out his wrists "I'm already in handcuffs for you ,baby ." Tyler's lips where slightly puckered and looked at Joshua with innocent eyes. But, Tyler was anything but innocent.josh didn't really know to respond, he was expecting death threats, crying, silence, asking for a lawyer. anything but this.
"stop that."
tyler sat nack down in his chair with the look of 'fine, ill quit, but you know you loved it'. his movements still teasingly sexual.
what the fuck is his move? josh thought. But, he didn't let it show how confused he was and continued with a calm demeanor.
"why did you kill that family. The Martin family. "
tyler's whole body language changed, she stopped playing and became cold. his eyes flickered and stared at josh, he leaned forward and came dangerously close to the detective, his lips almost grazed josh's ear.
"i . got. bored."
tyler sat back in his chair and gave out a huff of breath as if the answer was obvious. Josh saw he wasn't going to get anywhere with this guy any time soon and decided to let him sit for a while, and try again later.
he entered back into the room where brendon still resided. Taking another sip of coffee.
"what a fucking psychopath."
so I'm trying something new, not done with my old book obviously, but if you liked this leave a comment and if i get a good response ill make more chapters, ok bye :)-ty
