With all credit to Jungkook and Yoongi, Hoseok and Jimin stayed texting. But the next time they would meet in person, it would be about four weeks later. Jungkook had recently been promoted and he had dragged Jimin to one of his favourite coffee stores to celebrate. They were both sat at a table in the corner by a window, sipping coffee whilst Jimin let Jungkook ramble on, occasionally participating with yes-no questions with head movements. The bell for the store rang. Someone had entered.
It was a small coffee shop, Jungkook had been there so often he'd grown to know the owners nearly personally. They were a married couple with one nineteen year old daughter. Sometimes Jimin was sure he and Jungkook were the only people who actually went there, but the newcomer at the door seemed to prove him wrong.
"Jimin!" Jungkook whisper yelled, half pointing to the door, "that's Him, isn't it?"
Jungkook only really referred to Hoseok as Him. He actually only knew what Hoseok looked like from the don't I look great in this picture incident.
"Jimin~" Jungkook's voice was mockingly sweet, "Who are you smiling at?"
Jimin reluctantly handed his phone over to Jungkook, who nearly smiled himself. "Is this that boy you like?" Jimin nodded shyly, "he's really cute. You're lucky."
Jimin motioned for Jungkook to shut up, but Hoseok saw them whilst walking through the door. He ordered his coffees and waved at Jimin, who silently waved back. Hoseok's coffee was collected and he walked over to Jimin and Jungkook, kneeling down next to their table instead of getting a chair.
"I can't stay long because Yoongi's waiting for his coffee." Hoseok explained, nodding in the direction of the steaming polystyrene mug he held. "Do you come here often?"
Jimin nodded. Hoseok smiled. "My parents own the place. They often tell me if it wasn't for two nice young boys, they'd be out of business. Sound familiar?"
Jimin looked over at Jungkook, silently pleading for help.
"That could be us." Jungkook shrugged and leaned back in his chair. A car beeped outside, driving Hoseok's attention away from Jimin's face to the window. There was a man leaning out of a car window, staring at Hoseok as if he was waiting for him.
"That's Yoongi," Hoseok rolled his eyes, standing with great annoyance. "Hey, it was great seeing you again, Jimin. Bye mom!"
"Stay safe, son!" His mother yelled from behind the counter, "and stay out of trouble as well! And don't get anymore tattoos! And-"
"Quit smoking." Hoseok finished her sentence, smiling, "yes, I know. Bye!"
"Be good to your friends, son!"
Be good to your friends. Hoseok nearly laughed out loud. He was always good to the people he cared about. And when he thought of people he cared about, he cast a look back at Jimin, who was startled the second they locked eyes. Jimin was staring back at him. If he made eye contact with Jimin again he might've just imploded.
Another beep of the horn, "Hoseok! Hurry the fuck up before I come in there!"
Hoseok broke eye contact with Jimin, said farewell, and left.
Jimin was shaken to his core, smiling, staring into space. He really liked Hoseok. He didn't know why, but he had some kind of attraction to him. He felt pulled to him. He didn't know this, but the cords of fate were pulling them both together, strained the further away they were from each other.
It wasn't long before they pulled so far they snapped, and Jimin and Hoseok found themselves projectiles towards each other with no warning.
