**HI everyone! I am so sorry that it has been so long since my last update......I have been so incredibly busy! Thank you all for the well wishes for my mom! Luckily, she recovered well from her surgery, (recovery time was VERY long and she still recovering now) but we are all doing good now! We are actually on a mini-vacation right now (We went to a Spokane Indians baseball game (my brother and I's first ever baseball game) and are staying in a hotel right now...... It was SO much fun and one of the baseball players threw my brother one of the baseballs, signed it, and took a picture with my brother on the field.....It was such a touching moment and I have never seen my little brother so happy! :) Anyway, back to the story.....I know that this chapter is a little boring (exactly the same as the movie), but I am starting on the next chapter right now and hope to get it posted ASAP. I briefly threw in a few ideas I had about Jasmine's mother in the story just for the heck of it. Once again, I own no characters (except Aleah) and please comment/review! Thanks so much for all of the comments..... I LOVE hearing from all of you! :D
The sultan had been asleep for quite a while now; leaning against the door where on the other side, where his daughter and Prince Achmed were supposed to be "getting to know each other". The sultan hoped so much that she would finally chose her husband, and this led to eavesdropping on his daughter's conversation. But unfortunately, he fell asleep, so he had no warning of what was coming next.
He was woken up abruptly by the palace gates being slammed open and an angry Prince Achmed stomping his feet in a very drama-queenish matter. Achmed scoffed and yelled, "I have never been more insulted in all my life!" The sultan was extremely confused since he had just woken up, and stuttered, "L-Leaving so soon?" as Achmed continued to storm off. It was only then that the sultan saw that there was a considerable hole in Achmed's pants, revealing a pair of heart-printed underwear. On any other occasion, the sultan would have laughed at the situation, but right now, the situation was much too dire. Prince Achmed continued to storm out of the room, leaving with the statement, "Good luck marrying her off!" The sultan at this point became infuriated at the fact that his daughter was being insulted, but he understood that her attitude didn't help the situation at all.
"Jasmine!" he yelled as he searched throughout the palace...."Jasmine? Jasm-" and was abruptly cut off by Jasmine's pet tiger, Rajah who was carrying a piece of heart-printed cloth -identical to the ones that Achmed had. Now the sultan understood, "Ugh! Confounded Rajah!" as he fought with the tiger for the remaining underwear. He looked over at his daughter and yelled, "So, this is why Prince Achmed stormed out!?" Rajah casually walked over to Jasmine and gave her the piece of cloth in his mouth with ease as Jasmine defended her pet tiger, "Oh father, Rajah was just playing with him." She took Rajah's cheeks between her hands, "Weren't you Rajah? You were just playing with that over dressed, self absorbed Prince Achmed weren't you?" Causing she and Rajah to laugh and proceeded with a death stare coming from her father, giving her the indication to be quiet.
"Dearest," he pleaded with his daughter, "You've got to stop rejecting every suitor who comes to call. The law says you....." This was not the first time that Jasmine had heard this lecture and she joined in on it while she walked towards the castle's bird cages.
"Must be married to a prince" they spoke at the same time and her father continued, "...by your next birthday!" For what seemed like the umpteenth time she attempted to explain her feelings toward the marriage to her father;
"Father, the law is wrong!"
"You've only got three more days!" Her father seemed to whimper in anxiety
"Father, I hate being forced into this!" she then softened her tone and held a small white bird against her cheek. "When I do marry, I want it to be for love"
Her father seemed to soften slightly at her words; he did understand what she was saying, but there was more to his side than he cared to admit.
"Jasmine, it's not just this law business." He took the bird from her hands. "It's just that..... I'm not going to be around forever and...." he sighed "I just want to be sure that you are taken care of" he said putting the bird back in his cage. Jasmine decided to try again.
"Please try to understand!" she pleaded once again. "I've never done a thing on my own! I've never had any real friends!" and she promptly received a snarl from Rajah. "Except you Rajah" with a smile, which contented him and he closed his eyes again and returned to sleep. "I've never even been outside the palace walls" she continued. This is where her father cut in one more time, "But Jasmine, you're a princess! She looked at her reflection in the water and her temper that she inherited from her mother came into play and she hit her reflection and yelled, "Then maybe I don't want to be a princess anymore!" Walking away from her father. The Sultan let out a sigh of frustration and walked away, but turned around once more and yelled, "Allah forbid you should have any daughters!" and his comment was followed by a confused look from Rajah.
Jasmine was now alone, sitting on the edge of the fountain and was completely tensed up from her anger. She nearly ran to the bird cages and released all of the birds from their cage. She watched them all fly away into the horizon and for a moment, wished that she was a bird so that she too could fly away. That is when for the first time in her life, she decided something on her own. "I will leave the palace. Tonight."
