elsie set her phone down next to her in the grass she had settled in, timothee taking a seat beside her. "when did you even take that picture?" the curly haired boy asked, gesturing at his own phone which displayed the girl's recent instagram post. she smiled, "while i was walking to the car. considering it was golden hour and you almost looked attractive, i couldn't resist."

the boy rolled his eyes, nudging her shoulder as they looked at the sky. "so," elsie began, "why exactly did we come here?" timothee had brought her to the heart of griffith park, an unappreciated gem of los angeles. when he came to la to audition in person for both call me by your name and lady bird, this park was where he'd go to get away from the stress of his career. usually, the park wasn't too busy, and he could get some time for himself. "not that it's not beautiful," elsie continued, seeing that timothee had hesitated to respond. "it is. i just wondered why this park."

"well," timothee said, standing and walking to his car, "i didn't plan to just sit here, and you asked for food," he said, popping the trunk. he pulled out a basket and a blanket as elsie smiled. "a picnic?" she giggled.

"yes, a picnic," he proudly responded, returning to her side. he laid the blanket on the grass and sat cross-legged on top of it. elsie watched as he began to take paper plates and subway sandwiches from the basket. "are you going to join me, or are you just going to watch?"

so she moved and sat across from the brunette, who had now begun to pour cokes into solo cups with ice. she couldn't help but smile at him, wondering what she did to deserve such a beautiful thing before her.

"i'm going to set the record straight," the boy starts, "i cannot cook to save my life, so anytime i do something like this for you, know that me picking up food is truly the best i can do, unless you're willing to eat the charred remains of undeserving fries," he jokes, taking a bite of his sandwich. "also, i had absolutely zero idea what you'd eat, so i just got ham and cheese. gourmet, obviously. subway is top notch, as i'm sure you're aware." he earned a giggle from the girl next to him. "i hope that's okay for you, cos you really have no other options." he winks and she rolls her eyes, telling him she's not picky.

the golden light of the setting sun lit up timothee's face, accentuating his jawline and cheekbones. she forced back the urge to tell him he looked amazing, to admit that she couldn't believe someone could legitimately be so beautiful that they glow from within. her heart had been beating like a drum from the minute she took a seat in his car, and it hadn't stopped now. worried he'd catch her staring, she looked away, finally picking up the sandwich timothee had gotten for her, but not letting go of the admiring thoughts of the boy.

the two began talking about everything under the sun, from working with celebrities to their taste in music to their favorite tv shows(both, by the way, agreed that supernatural was incredible, and that jensen ackles was underappreciated). the sun had gone down and the stars had risen into the sky. the dim light from the still-rising moon shimmered on their skin as laughter filled the air.

"you're telling me that aged SIX you told a boy to suck a dick on the playground?" timothee laughed, shocked by the story.

"why would i lie about that? anyway, i didn't even get in trouble. the teachers just laughed about it. they were kinda like, 'wow, didn't expect that from a first grader,' or they just thought it was hysterical. none of them felt it necessary to tell the principal or anything. the other kids thought i was legendary for getting away with technically swearing. when my mom found out, she literally high-fived me, said she was proud i 'stood up for myself.' looking back, if i would have been punished i probably wouldn't be such an ass now, but hey, you win some you lose some, right?" she looked at the boy who watched her talk and chuckled at her dramatic hand gestures, smiling. "i'm rambling aren't i? i'm sorry, i didn't mean to i just... i do that when i..."
