Now, in her seventh year, things are...kind of going well? She and Sirius have been together for almost three years now, James started dating Lily at the end of the sixth year, Remus and Peter are still single, but neither of them seems to mind, and she was working up the courage to tell her friends her secret. The secret. I know, it's a big step, but she thinks this group of misfits won't share this with anyone. At least...she hopes they won't.
Anyway, it hasn't all been great...She and Layla started drifting away from each other in the sixth year. Lay wouldn't show up for their studying sessions, she wouldn't sit with Abigail at any of the meals, Lay wouldn't even sleep in their shared dorm anymore - instead choosing to sleep in another Gryffindor's room - and Abigail was, in all honesty, very confused. Abigail made attempts to keep the friendship together, of course, but Lay either ignored her or glared at her. It was at that point that Abby lost all hope in the two every becoming friends again, so she gave up.
But, enough of the sad stuff! It's almost the end of November, they had a Quidditch match a few weeks ago - Ravenclaw against Hufflepuff to see who would go up against Slytherin - where Hufflepuff won, and now they're all just chilling down by the Black Lake. Well, all the Marauders - plus Lily - that is.
Sirius and Abigail were sitting under a large oak tree, his arm around her shoulders as she braided his hair, which he established that Abigail was the only one allowed to touch his glorious locks. Lily and James were laughing and skipping rocks across the water, but Lily was clearly way better than him. Remus was reading a book with his legs crossed a few feet away from Sirius and Abby, and Peter was doing his Transfiguration homework right next to Remus. It was a full moon in a couple of days, so Remus was enjoying the peaceful few days before he dropped into illness before his transformation.
"Alright, Remus! How does it look?" Abigail chirped, pulling her hands away from the roughly six small braids in Sirius' hair. Remus turned his head, smiling brightly.
"It looks excellent, Abby." Abigail grinned, planting a small kiss on Sirius' cheek before standing up and stretching. Sirius stood up as well, his eyes searching the area before they landed on a relatively large stick. Abby spotted it as well, quickly glancing over at Lily to make sure she wasn't looking before she morphed into a white and grey wolf. Her loud bark alerted Lily to the new presence, her eyes widening at the wolf that was now bringing a stick back to Sirius.
You see, James didn't want to tell Lily about them being Animagi until absolutely necessary because for some reason he thought she would be mad at him or something? I don't know, Abigail kinda tuned out the whole conversation.
"Sirius, why is there a wolf here all of a sudden?" Lily asked as Sirius scratched the wolf behind her ears before throwing the stick again.
"Oh, we found her in the Forbidden Forest." Sirius started, Abigail happily barking as she ran after the stick.
"And she was injured by a Hippogriff," James added next, glaring daggers at Sirius.
"So we helped her, and now she's our friend," Remus said, his eyes not leaving his book as he turned the page.
"That's...interesting..." Lily looked around, her brow furrowing. "Where's Abigail?" Sirius looked to the wolf, who promptly barked as 'Abigail' walked out from behind the large oak tree.
"Right here, sorry! I saw a pretty butterfly." There was a barely noticeable echo in her voice, something she knew none of them would catch. Though she had never actually shown this power to any of the Marauders, they seemed to accept that she knew weird illusion magic. The fake Abigail's eyes were glowing a bit, but Lily seemed to not notice as she turned back to James.
"This is really cool..." Sirius whispered to Abigail. The wolf growled slightly, barking again as Sirius turned to face it.
"Don't try to touch this form...you'll go right through it." She whispered back, walking over to the tree and sitting down, her form almost going completely still. Sirius just now noticed that her feet seemed to go through the grass.
The rest of the peaceful afternoon went like that - Sirius playing catch with Abigail's wolf form, Lily and James laughing with each other, and Remus and Peter doing their homework and such. They finally left when Remus started coughing, his skin paling slightly as a sign that the full moon was coming. Lily said that she had to leave a bit early (before Remus' coughing fit) to meet with another student or something, so that left the five Marauders to help Remus up the path to the castle.
"James, we should tell her," Sirius said quietly, smiling down at Abigail's wolf form as she brushed her tail against his leg.
"No, not happening," James replied almost immediately.
"Mate, I'm with Sirius on this one," Remus argued. "I mean, it's obvious you aren't going to break up ever, so we may as well tell her."
"Fine, you know what? After this coming full moon, we'll tell her...Just don't pressure me, alright? My brain is still trying to catch up on the fact that I'm dating the Lily Evans - the girl who despised the very idea of me. Excuse me if I think that this isn't actually real." Abigail looked up at James sadly, her form blinking green before she was back in her human form.
"James, Lily loves you, mate. Trust me, she talks about you every night." She started laughing lightly. "It's become a problem. I mean, I can't get any sleep with her blabbing on about you, Prongs. She won't care if we're Animagi, or if you're a werewolf, Remus." She said as Sirius put an arm around her.
