We sat around the dinner table, listening to Emma blab on about her new solo for dance. Part of me was listening, (and I don't know why) and part of my was staring at my plate of chicken, asparagus and brown rice, just thinking about the fact someone in my new, crappy school is interested in me. Maybe things are looking up, who knows.
"That's wonderful, Em!" My aunt Jen said, enthusiastically. She has a way of making extremely boring things seem semi interesting. I'm a little jealous of optimists like her.
"Anyone else have a good story about their day?" My uncle Greg said, just as enthusiastically as aunt Jen.
Parker went on to tell everyone about his so-called amazing play at football. Honestly, I rather eat dirt than listen to this story.
"Can I be excused? I have a ton of homework." I blurted out suddenly.
Everyone looked at me. "Sure Mel." Aunt Jen said with a smile.
There's that tone she talks to Georgia and I in. I muttered a thanks, put my dish in the sink and ran/walked up to my room. I tried my best to make the room my aunt and uncle gave me my own, so I decorated it with posters of my favorite musicians, a shelf with all of my books and white Christmas lights. But, none of my stuff made this room feel like home. The only thing that felt like home was my old room back in Somerville.
I sighed and sat down on my bed, pulling out my phone. I realized I had a text from none other than, G. Whoever that is. My heart did a flip and I don't even know why since I have no idea about the identity of G. The text read,G: Hi. I know you haven't figured out who I am, but I'm not sure I want to tell you yet. You probably most definitely think I am a stalker now, but I still promise I'm not:)
I have absolutely no idea how G got my number, since I barely know anyone. Reluctantly, I answered him, letting my romantic heart get the best of me.
Me: Hi, I guess. You know, if you're trying to prank me or something, don't waste my time.
G: I promise I'm not pranking you. For sure. I just saw you around and had to get to know you:)
Me: Oh. Okay. Well why haven't you told me who you are?
G: Some things are better left unsaid.
