The sun shone bright over the busy streets of the city. Horns honking, birds chirping and people chatting while walking on the footpaths made the sight all the more pleasing.

A bicycle clinking went all the way through the crowd. She was wearing a hoodie covering her whole head which provided her eyes a shade against the bright sunlight too. Every five seconds she would look back and hit the peddles even harder and move forward piercing the air. Her breaths were uneven and it started to become difficult to make ways among the moving crowds on the street. As soon as she turned around the last block she saw that jeep coming from right in front of her. She was being chased. Three people were riding that jeep. The one in the driving seat was bald and with a strange glare he smirked as soon as he caught her glimpse. With a jerk she clutched the breaks and tried to turn her bike around when it moved off the footpath and onto the main road where the traffic signal had already turned green and the white car in the front row came and hit the back tire of her bicycle which went swirling and she fell on the road.

The car stopped, making a screeching sound and the front door opened to let out a fine man in his late thirtees dressed in a white shirt and black dress pant, with a worried expression on his face.

"Are you alright?" he picked her up while a lot of people gathered around her. She was conscious enough to see him but her head was a little dizzy.

"Y..yes" a weak voice addressed him. Her arms were scratched really bad.

"You are in a state of shock and your arms have been scratched, you need to go to a hospital right now." She could not utter a word in response and with his help went limping towards his car.

She was sitting on the bed looking at her arms wrapped in bandages. Her short hair were a mess right now and she had lost one of her shoe, which she did not realize before. plus she had probably lost her bike as well.

"So your name's Hania?" She lifted her head to see that man in a white doctor's overall smiling.

"Yes..I never knew you were a doctor." She tried to bush away the tangles in her hair with her fingers.

"I wouldn't blame you for this, because you were not in a state to guess that." He checked the IV if it was finished. "I'm Jawad and I'm a doctor as you know." he removed the IV bag,  "how are you feeling now?"

"I feel better now."She nodded.

"You don't have to worry about your bike, it's at the workshop getting it's back tire fixed, you'll get it as soon as it's fixed."

He paused and sighed, "I don't know how to say it but I'm really sorry for what happened, It was all my fault, I should have been more careful..."

"No, it's okay, it's not your fault, actually I turned around without even looking at the signal, so you don't have to apologize." She clarified all the misunderstanding with a smile, she didn't want to burden him. He sat on the empty bed in front of her with his arms folded.

"I was going to look for and call your guardians but then I thought I should probably ask you as you were still conscious."

Her back straightened with a jolt, with her eyes opened wide, "No no no..it's okay you don't have to call them. I'm perfectly fine now."

"Okay, if you say so." he chuckled with a shrug looking at her response. "Oh and here's something I brought for you." He pulled out a box from a shopping bag he had placed on the bed behind him. "I hope they fit you." He placed the shoes on the floor for her to wear.

"You didn't have to do this, I'm already..." he didn't let her finish. "It's okay, since I was the one who caused the accident you don't have to feel burdened about it."

She hesitatingly placed her feet inside the shoes and they fit her just fine.

"Thankyou so much I..." She lifted her head to thank him when her eyes froze on the TV screen in the corner on the wall facing his back. "I think I've seen him before." she squinted her eyes trying to focus and recognize his face.

It was a news telecast in which a young man was reporting about a shoplifter that stole some goods from a general store. Jawad turned to look at the screen and a sign of recognition appeared in his eyes for a moment. He turned his head back towards her again, with that meaningful gaze to look at her, "You, know him?"

Her mouth dropped open as she finally recognized him, "It's him! the serial killer!!!" she almost shrieked and covered her mouth with her hands instantly."

"Serial killer?" his eyebrows raised in confusion.

She walked up to him and cleared her throat for him to turn to look at her.

"Yes?"

"You don't remember me?"

"No."

"Serial killer!" she said.

"What?" It was unexpected.

"That's what you told me about yourself."

"You..."

"Will you marry me?"
