A/N- this chapter has some inconsistencies with the rest of the story. I have addressed this several times and if I get another comment about it I will take this chapter down and put a synopsis of what happens instead
(Parkers P.O.V)
My eyelids are extremely heavy. I struggle to move any part of my body, even wiggling a finger or toe is difficult. All of my energy is focused on opening my eyes, hoping to see my beautiful mate staring back at me.
Painstakingly slow, my eyelids lift. Blinding light assaults my vision. My eyes snap closed again, protecting them from the light. Slowly, I open them again. The light still hurts but not as bad as before.
Rain sits beside my bed, hand tightly gripping mine. The handles of a wheel chair stick up behind him. Tears build up in his eyes.
I attempt to sit up to comfort him but my head pounds, preventing me from doing so. He squeezes my hand tightly and I squeeze back, telling him it's okay.
With the other hand I reach up to touch my head. My fingers meet gauze where my hair should be. Rain has a small band aid on his wrist.
"Is that story how we really met?" he asks, words warped by tears.
"Story?" I don't remember telling him any story.
"The story about the boy. He was the son of the Alpha, mated to a boy his father didn't like. His mate challenged the Alpha to get him back. Is that our story?" he asks.
Everything flashes back to me. I was remembering the day we met. I must have been showing Rain too.
"Yes. That's our story." a light smile shines through his tears.
"You could have died, but you still fought to be with me." he whispers. "What happened to your family?"
A small sad smile appears on my face. "My mother and father died a few years back during a rogue attack. But my brothers are is still alive. They've been excited to meet you for a long time."
A slightly brighter smile takes the place of the sad one. We sit like that for a while. No words are shared but we feel comfort in each others presents.
A nurse walks in, shattering the peaceful atmosphere.
"Alpha, you're awake. I'll inform Dr.Wharez at once. " She says briskly, entering just as fast as she entered.
The packs primary doctor, Dr.Wharez, walks into my room quickly. He holds a clipboard in one hand as he starts checking me over. Rain wheels himself backwards a little so he isn't in the Doctors way.
My head pounds lightly when he checks the bandages. I ignore it, hoping that if I don't say anything he'll let me go quicker. Rain must notice this because he gives me a small scowl. I smile a little in return, hoping he understands.
"You'll need to stay overnight, you can leave tomorrow morning. We found no evidence of head trauma but you did get hit pretty hard. Mainly we want you to stay overnight so you can rest and for the dizziness and nausea to fade away." Wharez explains.
"Thanks Doctor. What about Rain?" I ask, more concerned about my mate than myself.
"After he ripped open the wound we had to do major surgery on his leg. There is a 50/50 chance he will never be able to use his leg again but we are hopeful that with some physical therapy he will be just fine." he smiles and exits my room.
Rain and I look at each other. Smiles surface from both of us and we just sit there, grinning at each other. Everything is going to be okay.
