(Parkers P.O.V)

"Mom! How much food do we have left?" a voice calls through the trees to a woman.

"Not much. If you could go out and try to get something, a few rabbit would be good, that would be wonderful, Parker." she calls back.

I remember this day. It was the first time I ever saw Rain, five years ago. Its almost like I'm watching this as a movie. Its definitely my memory, but it's not from my point of view.

A black wold, my black wolf, walks out of the tree line to the woman, my mother. The wolf is smaller than he is now, he wasn't an Alpha then.

My father and brother weren't around that day. They were both out scouting for a new pack for us to join. At that time they weren't aware that we were camped outside of the pack my mate was part of, the Silver Moon pack, the pack I am now Alpha of.

The black wolf trotted out of my sight line, but I knew exactly where he was going. I vividly remember wanting to bring home a whole buck so my mother wouldn't have to worry about good for a while. Being a small pack of wanderers we always had to worry about good because we didn't always have good available and we couldn't carry much with us.

I follow not to far behind the black wolf, not to eager to relive what happened that day. We stop at a break in the trees, a large meadow meadow with a mansion like house just behind it. To this day in not exactly sure how I made it that close to the pack house without someone noticing. Maybe it was because I smelled like wanderer and wasn't deemed a threat, or maybe it was something else entirely.

In the middle of the meadow a beautiful gray wolf was jumping around with some younger pups, most likely the ones who had just shifted for the first time. The gray wolf was good sized, around the same size as the black wolf in front of me but neither of them were even close to the size of my wolf now.

Someone yelled rain and I remember not thinking anything of it at the time. Maybe they were warning the others about some incoming rain. The gray wolf shifts back to its human form, this was the first time I ever saw my mate as a human.

Even then he was a bit of a small boy. Brown shaggy hair hung over his face. He looks the same and yet so different than he does now. His hair and eyes, both a soft brown color, are the same but the rest of him is so different. Now you can see almost all of his homes and he always looks so sad. Its so upsetting that such a sweet, innocent boy would have to go through so many bad things before he could have a good life.

Impossibly, the boy turns and looks directly where the black wolf is standing. They both stare at each other for a long moment until someone called the boys name again. Reluctantly, both parties look away from the other.

That as the moment I realised Rain was my mate. I kept going back to that same place for a week. Every day I would go back and sit in the same spot, watching the beautiful boy. Sometimes he would see me, but he never said a word. I honestly don't have a clue as to how I managed to get that close every day for a week without being caught and killed.

When my father had finally returned to us I told him about what happened. He told me I should talk to the Alpha of that pack about the boy and try to meet him.

I did what he said. I approached the Alpha about the boy I had seen. He informed me that the boys name was Rain and that he was his son. I told the man that his son was my mate and that's when everything went south.

He called me a faggot and said that there was no way his son could be my mate because his son was not a freak like me. He told me I was never allowed on his pack territory ever again and that I would never see Rain again.

In a moment of panic I challenged the Alpha to a duel. If I win I would be the official Alpha of the Silver Moon pack and I could take Rain as my mate. If I lost, I would die. For some reason he accepted, presumably because he thought it would be an easy fight to win. The fight didn't last long, for he decided quiting was a better option than being beaten by an eighteen year old kid.

He fled with his family. He took his wife and Rain and completely disappeared. I spent two years trying to track them down and eventually I did. Blaze and Zane, two of my best pack members, his out in the town the Alpha had moved them to, watching Rain for me. They waited until they thought it was the right time to remove Rain from his 'family'.

And that's how we got here.

"So that's how we got here."
