"This, here. Wait.., no I don't think they'll like that. Wait how about this? No, too formal..hm you really need to update your closet."
I sat helpless on the bed as Shannon rifted through my closet, throwing articles of clothing here and there, especially after I just cleaned up my room. "Shannon!"
"What? It's your first day and last week of school before summer break."
"Just go downstairs, it's been thirty minutes I'm pretty sure I can take care of myself," I exclaimed, exasperated.
Shannon pouted, "Oh c'mon, I care about my brother! I'm helping."
"No you aren't, I'm going to shower now and I would appreciate it if you'd get out, not to be rude."
"Pissy pants," she muttered under her breath as she left. I laughed, knowing she'd hear me, we have been closer since the day I drove her to school, and we've been having a few, tiny fights here and there that meant nothing. What shocked me was the fact I actually felt like I've got a sister.
Quickly rinsing myself off, I pulled on a pair of sweatpants and tank that weren't discarded onto the lush carpet and joined the Stellards in the kitchen.
Emily was scrolling through her phone, her face scrunched up as if unhappy. Shannon sat beside her, munching happily on her granola bar. I grabbed a bowl and quickly dumped myself some cereal.
"Good morning Elis!" Mrs. Stellard exclaimed, this morning she wore a pair of running shoes, leggings, and sweatshirt.
"Good morning, Mrs. Stellard." she frowned when I called her that, but I was not going to call her 'mom', and it certainly felt rude to call her by her first name 'Rachel'.
"Do you guys need a ride to school?" she offered.
Emily shook her head, Shannon did the same as she got up to go get her backpack. "Elis is going to drive me."
Mrs. Stellard raised her eyebrows, "You know how to drive?"
I scowled at Shannon's retreating figure. "Um, yeah. Not exactly legal you know.." I scratched the back of my neck as I tried to avoid her gaze.
Mrs. Stellard laughed, "No it's fine, I'll give you the keys to the GMC. Make sure you don't scratch it."
I gaped at her as she dropped the keys in my hand, and walked out the front door. Emily looked just as shocked.
"That was supposed to be my car!" she whined.
"Not anymore," I smirked at her, hopping off the stool to go check out my new vehicle.
I thought I heard a growl as I opened the garage doors, but shook it off as Shannon skipped through the front door and straight into the passenger seat. School it is.

"Holy shit!" Chris slapped my back as he came up to the car, "Not fair at all."
I grinned at him, waving the car keys at him. "Mrs. Stellard was fine with it."
"Aw, my mom says I have to pass the test before I get a car," Chris pouted.
"I think I know why," I laughed.
"Don't rub it in my face, douche," he scowled, but immediately changed it to a grin once Shannon climbed out. "Shannon!"
Shannon blushed, "Don't do that." she hissed.
"Do what?" and then I noticed how he was imitating her by standing with one hand on a hip, the other hand holding an invisible phone and texting. I chuckled.
