Shannon

The clock read eight in the morning, school started two hours ago, I got home six hours ago. Yet Elis was no where to be seen. My mom and Emily didn't notice a thing, they shrugged at my lie and then left as if nothing had happened. NOTHING.

Do you know how it feels to be left in the dark for everything? From the day I could read and write, everyone treated me as if I was mentally disabled, inable to do anything at all. It was as if they all knew a secret, and found it funny that I didn't know, and thought that I didn't know they knew the secret. It's frustrating, even my closest friends. Whenever I brought up the topic of 'secrets', they would immediately steer the conversation away and down a different road. Everyday was like that, until Elis came. I felt relief, hopefully someone that would understand me, and someone that was equal to me. However, when I first laid eyes I him, I knew he wasn't normal, and he sure wasn't the talkative type. I worried Emily would take interest in him, and steal him away from me, but she didn't even pay the slightest attention to him. Just one glance when she turned around, just one little look of interest from her, and then it was as if she made a decision, or saw something that didn't deem him as good enough for her, and from there he meant nothing to her. Of course I was relieved, but why would someone like Emily pass up a guy like Elis? He looked like he could pass as a greek god and get every girl in the world to swoon after him. He seemed like the snobby type who knew his looks, but he didn't, he never spoke unless it was necessary, and the way he would avert his eyes, as if he knew he wouldn't stay here for long, and didn't want to get comfortable yet.

After his first visit at the lodge, I watched him, the way he looked at cars with lust, the same way the guys at school looked at the girls who practically wore nothing to class. I knew he knew how to handle cars, when he didn't think that anyone was looking, he would sneak off to the garage and almost as if caress the cars we had. My mom never really had an interest in cars, yet our dad whom we shall never ever speak of had an obsession, and she kept his babies.

Before Elis came, I've always had a suspicioun that on certain nights during the month, Emily and mom would sneak off into the night. I've never really had the guts or courage to follow them, and discover what the town's secret was. So once I saw Elis's love of cars, I knew what I had to do. He would understand, he knows what it's like to be left out, to not belong. I can see it in him. I just had to persuade him to drive me and help me find out the secret. Somehow, in my guts, I knew Emily and mom would go to the Lodge on the nights. It wasn't hard getting Elis to start the car and get to the building, it was even easier to disable the security. I just had to follow the smell of Emily's Pink perfume down to the basement, where it all was happening. But Elis lost it when they mentioned his name, I was just as shocked. What did he do? Would he be let in on the secret, and not me? After I've lived here since the day I was born? He drove us to the middle of nowhere, and then told me to leave him. I did, and I went straight back to the Lodge.

They were all gone, but what I did find, was a whole room of restraints. As if it used to be apart of a mental hospital. What were they doing with them? The restraints were metal, as if silver, they glinted in the dim light and gave off a poisonous look. Rushing home, I expected to find Elis sobbing in his bed, or lying in shock. But he wasn't there, I took pillows and stuffed it under his comforter, turning on the TV, I locked the door from the inside. Then to further prevent trouble in case Elis doesn't come home before school, I told mom he threw up and I gave him medicine. She believed me and rushed off to work, Emily was even easier, she wanted nothing to do with Elis.

"Shannon?"

I whipped around, holding the remote at ready. It was Elis, and he stood shivering, naked, using his hands to cover himself. I sniffed the air, the smell of burning and fire surrounded him. "Did you start a fire or something, and burned off your clothes?"

Elis just stood there, making no move to put on a pair of pants. "I-I don't know. No."

Frowning, I reached over and picked up a pair of sweatpants that could pass off as a guys, and chucked it at him. "Put something on, don't worry about school. We're both ditching. I texted your friend telling him he doesn't need to worry," I surpressed a chuckle, "He was calling nonstop."

As if just realizing the fact he was naked, and his manhood was on the show for the world, he took the sweatpants gratefully and slipped them on. I couldn't help but admire his body while he did so. His face was enough to make the girls at school want to rip his clothes off and get dirty with him, but his body, a girl would sacrifice anything to make him notice her. His abs were of steel, I have seen no other guy sport abs like those, not even Mark, who was the school's 'it' boy. Elis's skin was also smooth, and slightly pale, but in a hauntingly beautiful way, it made his abs look more glorified, as if they were God's himself. The way his broad shoulder's moved and the muscles in his arms bulged but weren't too big, it was too good to be true. But before I could ogle at him anymore, he lept onto my bed and snuggled into the comforter.

"So tired," was what he mumbled, and the next thing I knew, he was asleep and out cold.
