Chapter 15: Leave out all the rest

Dakota waited outside the phone booth. Jughead had kept it a creek open so she could hear the conversation.

"Hi, mom"

There was a pauses

"Hey, guess what?"

Another pause

" I got two bus tickets to Toledo."

Dakota was already getting impatient

"Yeah. I thought me and Dakota could come and see you and Jellybean for a while."

Another pause

"Dakota could crash on the couch. I'll take the floor."

Dakota looked down already knowing that she was gonna say no.

"Yeah"

Dakota didn't like seeing when Jughead was upset. Dakota's hate grew more. She hated her mother for doing this to Jughead.

"Mmm-hmm"

Dakota looked at Jughead seeing him holding back his tears
"No. I...."

Dakota tapped on Jugheads shoulder mouthing the words just hand up.

"No, I understand. Look, I..."

Dakota was ready to take the phone out of his hand

"Forget I said anything,okay?"

Dakota was about to just hang up for jughead before he quickly said his goodbyes and hung up. Dakota looked at her brother. Wrapping him in a hug.

"We changed our minds about Toledo. Can you just put us on whatever the next bus out of town is? We don't even care we're it's going."

The lady stamped the papers
"Citrusville, Florida. Leaves tomorrow at 6:00.

Dakota looked around
"Lobby closes in fifteen minutes, reopens at 5:30"

Dakota and Jughead went to Pop's
"You really don't think they will come here to find us?"

Dakota lifted an eyebrow as her face showed what she was thinking really?

Jughead stared at the window a few more second, not answering. Dakota put her head down not knowing what to do.
"They are gonna look everywhere for us. Not actually coming here for-until a while"

And just as Jughead said that they heard the door open.

With a quick remark
"Told you"

"Jug. D."

Jughead turned to look at them while Dakota kept her head down. Archie say next to her. While Betty  carefully sat next to Jughead
"Jug, Dakota, we're so sorry...about everything."

Both twins said nothing. They didn't want to talk to them. Archie leans forward facing Jug and Dakota.
"Juggy,  Kota,we screwed up. We all did. Breaking into your Dad's trailer was wrong, but at least some good come out of it."

Jughead didn't look at them
"I'm pretty sure our dad was arrested for murder."

"That gun wasn't there when we searched his trailer. Someone put it there after we left."

Dakota lifted her head up, she saw Jughead looking at Veronica, as if he was about to cry. And she hated it. She hated that she can't do anything to make him feel better. The news that Veronica and Archie just gave them may make him feel better. Dakota and Jughead looked at there friends
"What are you talking about?"
