The next day, Shadow woke up Amy as soon as he saw the sun coming out. They needed to walk bit longer in order to get to the place Amy hide her father's testament. On this moment, Shadow really wished he hadn't sold his shoes so he could come and go whenever he wanted but he needed the money desperately.

"Wake up now or I am taking you out just the way you look"Shadow warned Amy once more and Amy opened her eyes slowly and began to get ready. After thanking the older couple for being so kind of letting stay, they began to embark back to their journey. In the following days, Shadow made it law that they should focus on walking non-stop. Although Shadow had suggested staying at another lodging, Amy refused since they were extremely close to her uncle's house, she was afraid they might find her.

"You are safe with me Amy, no need to worry. You need to rest, tomorrow we will get your testament where you hid it, and we will leave immediately,"

"I don't want to please. I don't want to get closer to the village, I am sure they are looking for me right now"

"Remember that you look different now, and they aren't looking for a couple"

"Anyways, I will feel better if we stayed somewhere else at night. We can look for a place somewhere here in the woods"

Amy convinced Shadow and after walking a little bit more, they found another small abandon cabin. Seeing them these days were normal as, after the war, families decided to move to small villages in order to try and sustain themselves there. Shadow prepared a bonfire, after eating the small rations they had, they rested for a while.

Shadow couldn't sleep of course. He was keeping guard like always. He was already making a plan, they would probably need a week in order to get to his place. The place where he would hide and protect Amy until she became of age and receive her money...HIS money. The only place he could actually sleep.

Shadow then focused on the sleeping Amy in front of him. He was aware that Amy was worried about her situation, especially these past days that she was being quiet as they got closer to her uncle's village. Shadow noticed Amy moving around, her breathing changed and she whispered in a soft voice.

"No...please...don't...it wasn't...my fault"

Shadow got closer to Amy, he didn't like this and wanted to wake her up and end her nightmare. However, his movements woke up Amy and immediately looked for his embrace. She knew that although Shadow was an embittered hedgehog, he would protect from her uncle.

On his side, Shadow felt's Amy's warm body against his. At that moment, he felt the great need to protect her against anything. He didn't even know what he was doing but in order to give her back the comfort she was looking for, he hugged her back and place her in his chest.

"Please Shadow...don't let him find me"

"Don't worry, nothing bad will happen to you. I promise to protect you" He actually meant those words deep down in his heart.

Amy felt herself falling asleep again and she didn't protest against it. A deep sleep followed right after a "Thank you Shadow".

Shadow couldn't believe that there were people out there who will harm people like Amy. Even back then in the ARK, she was a kind-hearted girl and she still was. Shadow remember seeing bruises and scars on her body before, he thought that the reason those were there was because Amy was on the battlefield when the war with Eggman began. But now, he thought of the worst...

Amy placed her hand on Shadow's soft fur and without noticing, Shadow intertwined his hands with hers. Amy had her explosive character, she will get mad at him whenever she felt that Shadow mistreated her. The funny thing is that she was right, and Shadow took this in consideration for the future. Besides, he liked Amy when she was in a good mood. She will smile often, and her conversations will make their journey very enjoyable. If he could marry anyone like the normal hedgehogs, he will marry someone like her.
