Again and Again

     Some days passed and Amy was doing much better. Shadow expected Amy to give him a cold shoulder but that never happened. Amy was her bubbly self and when she was feeling better she will help clean and cook around the house for the older lady who kindly let them into their house.

It was time for them to leave already and after thanking the elderly couple, they left with a goodbye and embarked on their new journey.            
       Some days passed and although they have kept in silence for most of the time in order to keep fresh, Amy was happy when Shadow told her that they were close to his place.

      "Tomorrow we will get to my house Amy, finally you will get a decent bed and good food instead of this crackers," Shadow and Amy were camping nearby a river which reminded Shadow of his place.

"Tell me, how is your house?" Amy said as she ate the cracker little by little so she could get full faster. Amy knew that Shadow couldn't die from starvation, but he could feel hungriness despite it. Shadow was a strong and tall hedgehog, she knew he needed more food than her.

"Well, after the war with Eggman and with G.U.N's downfall, it was a bit hard to find a good place to stay since most houses were falling apart. Its a pretty regular house. There is a river nearby just like this one so you can take a bath if that's what you want"

"That's good, it been pretty hard these days to find water since a lot of water reservations were lost during the war. It will be nice to take a swim"

"You know how to swim?," This peaked Shadow's curiosity and Amy was happy to explain.

"Yes, long ago, my mom taught me how to swim...how about you? do you know how to swim?"

"I don't"

"What? But I thought you were the-"

"In my youth, I used to spend all my time in the ARK. After that I really never had the time to learn"

"No problem Shadow, I can teach you, it's just a matter of floating and then just move your arms-...."

Shadow wasn't paying too much attention, he just looked at Amy and how beautiful she looked when she was talking about something that excited her.

"And do you live with someone else, Shadow?"

"Uh?" Shadow came back to his senses.

"If you live with someone else? I mean, some time passed and well, I wouldn't be surprised if you had some else living with you" Amy said as she winks at him. Shadow put his back against a tree in order to be more comfortable.

"I live alone, and I am not dating anyone if that's what you mean"

"Really? But you must have someone that you are interested in~"Amy got closer to him and this made him nervous.

"Look, Amy, I am not attractive, I don't have a sense of humor nor have a good personality. There are people trying to look for revenge. I like a girl but I know she will never look at me twice and I will do NOTHING to let her know about my feelings. It's not like I believe in love at all anyways" Shadow directed his words towards Amy. He really meant them and although he knew she was too naive to understand that the girl he liked was her, he hoped he got his message through.

"Then, I'll show you that love does exist" Amy said already planning different ways to do it.

"Don't lose your time, why you are insisting so much anyways? You say you will teach me about love? We have a deal and you will leave, what is good about teaching me about love and all that when you are going to end up leaving me anyways? If you really want to do something for me, then you need to understand that I don't want to be attached to you and I won't do it because I have a different life than yours. Eventually, we will part in different ways." Shadow was tired and decided to give his back to Amy in order to get some rest.

Amy didn't protest anymore. She was analyzing her situation and Shadows'. She was sad to think that although Shadow had the title of 'Ultimate Life-Form' he still felt so little and that he was not worthy of love. However, there was a light at the end of the tunnel as Amy remember that Shadow admitted to having a 'crush' on some girl. Amy was determined to find this girl and get her and Shadow together.

Amy felt something warm against her chest. Small steps and strong hands holding her legs. Soon after she realized that Shadow was carrying her on his back. The last thing she remembers from last night was her and Shadow falling asleep around the bonfire. Now, Shadow was carrying her, very delicate and strong at the same time. She didn't want to be an inconvenience for him, but she felt so comfortable and at peace at that time, she didn't want to say anything just yet. A few minutes passed and when Amy decided to finally tell Shadow that she was awake, she heard him whisper to himself.

"...I still can't believe she got me like this..."

This peaked Amy's interest.

"Got me even buying hair decorations for her...decorations she will never wear because I am too shy and stupid, not strong enough to give it to her"

"Give it to who?" Amy said in his ear, Shadow felt a cold running down his whole body.

"Damn it, Amy, you made me carry you all the way here!" Shadow said as he dropped Amy to the ground, hoping that it will be enough to get her mad and get into a fight to change the previous topic.

"Ouch! You were the one who decided to carry me!"

"Its because you never woke up!" Shadow knew that was a lie, he just couldn't bring himself to wake her up as he saw Amy's sleeping face.

"You just need to try harder and-" As Amy stood up she realized that they were in the outskirts of a village, it wasn't neither too big nor too small. It seemed like the village was doing well after the war with Eggman.

"We are here already?"

Shadow was glad to hear that as he had successfully changed the topic.

"Yes we are here already...welcome to my village"

"When were you going to tell me that you were in charge of this village?"

"It kinda happened all of a sudden" Shadow and Amy were walking through the small roads of the village. Shadow made a turn and Amy followed him as he finally made a stop and turned to look at Amy.

"Welcome to my house"

Amy took this as permission to enter to his place. She walked slowly to the front entrance where a beautiful garden was found. A small path made with rocks made it a clear how careful Shadow was at placing them. There was a small sunlight and from afar, Amy could hear a river nearby. The house was small and it looked cozy, it kinda reminded her of her own place back then before the war.

"COME BACK HERE!"

Amy recognized that voice as she heard loud steps coming towards her. Shadow walked towards Amy as he prepared to give her the news.

"CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!"

The door flew open and the miracle Amy was waiting for, no, not only her but the miracle everyone was waiting for was right in front of her. What she thought she had lost, her hope... it was him. She stood still, not knowing what to do, she felt her breath go away and her knees went weak.

Sonic The Hedgehog was alive.
