The following weeks,I convinced Eric that I am not a threat by following along with the simulations. But this time it was the final test,and Jeanine would probably be watching,she and Eric already knew what I really was.
Prim is safe,Tobias is safe. Everyone I love and care for is safe,for now.
Tobias looked at me,he brushed the hair off my neck as he touched the soft spot on my neck.
"Be brave."he says
"Don't underestimate me."I said
I notice Eric watching,I look at the ceiling and then I'm in Abnegation again.
"Katniss!Katniss!"screams Prim
I run after her,and to find,Tobias,Christina,Beatrice,Caleb an Prim centered around a mine field.
"Choose you want to save."Jeanine says
"No,you can't make me do that."I said
"Choose me!"Christina cries
"Save us,Katniss!"yells my father
"One.."
"Don't!"I screamed
"Two.."
I push Jeanine as I grab the control. I break it,and soon they explode anyways. I know Tobias sees this,he knows what I'm afraid of.
The next challenge,I'm trapped in a glass case,with millions of wasps. They sting me and sting me until I tap on the glass.
"This isn't real."I said
And the wasps fall dead,as for the third one. I have to choose who I want to kill,Peeta or Tobias.
"Choose."Eric says
"No."I said
I aim the gun to my heart as I pull the trigger. And then I wake up to Eric walking towards me.
"The only one with three fears."he says
"I gotta say,you put on quite the show."he says
"Is that a compliment?"I ask him
"Yes it is,Katniss."he says
"Then thank you."I said
I walk out and see Peeta who wraps me up in a hug,he smells like fresh cakes and bread.
"Good job,Katniss."he says
"Thank you."I said
As of then,I walk to Tobias' room.
"Hey,I'm the girl with three fears."I said
"Three and Four."he says
"Yeah."I said
"I saw what you did in each fear,the way you try to protect everyone and the way you defeated the wasps and shooting yourself instead of me or Peeta. And that's not bravery,that is being selfless,a divergence in it's own way."he says
"What do I do though,did I convince Jeanine?"I ask him
"I sure as hell hope so."he says
He notices my tattoo.
"Mockingjays,and there's four of them."he says
"One for my mom,Prim,You and Beatrice. My small broken family."I said
"It's not broken,it's still good."he says
"Can I see your tattoo?"I ask him
"Are you sure?"he says
"Yes."I said
He turns around,as he took off his shirt,revealing the tattoo,of the five factions.
"The five factions."I said
"I want to be brave,selfless,honest and kind."he says
He turns around.
"But I don't think I have the strength to be kind."he says
"Neither do I."I said
He smiles.
"I know you don't."he says
He kisses me,my arms wrapped around his neck. As it was just the two of us,we were alone.
"I love you."I said,quietly
"I love you,too."he says
I hear hollering in the hall.
"I'll see you tonight."I said
"Okay."he says
I join the Dauntless in the halls as we're welcomed into the faction with open arms. But then we're given a tracker.
"Stiff,you should be first in line."Eric says
He injects the tracker,but it doesn't faze me.
"Your truly one of us."he says
"Maybe I am."I said
