I walk inside with Clove,Cato and Uriah along with Zeke. Maybe I was Dauntless,maybe I can belong here despite what my results say. Maybe I was born to be here.
But then my mind floats along to Prim and my mother. How were they?I already miss them. But then again,I decided this-accident or not.
"Katniss,where have you been?"asks Peeta
"I was hanging out with the Dauntless-borns."I said
"Oh,can I talk to you for a moment?"he asks me
And we walk out to the Chasm. As he holds on to the rail.
"Christina might've already told you that I like you."he says
"Yeah,she did."I said
"Katniss,I've known you since we were like little and I've known you were the one for me."he says
"Peeta,I hardly remembered you. Because when I met you,my father passed away."I said
"I know,but Katniss..I think that I might be in love with you. I just don't know for sure."he says
"Peeta,I don't think that we could be a thing..but I do care about you."I said
I kiss him on the cheek,as he grabs my hand. As he holds me in his arms,I have never felt so loved in a long time.
"Please tell me that you'll love me,Katniss."he says
"I don't know,Peeta."I said
And I just stood in his arms as the Chasm waters roared under us. He smelled of bread,it made me smile a little bit.
But I turn away from his arms,I wave goodbye as I turn my back and go to the dormitories. Only to see the Erudite news,it was about Abnegation.
About me and Caleb,the only transfers. Saying that we were abused,just like Marcus Eaton's son Tobias. I run out and attack Peter.
"How could you!!What in the hell did I do to you!!If it's because I'm a Stiff-that will be the last of your problems!!"I yell as I hit him
Four had to pull me off of him. The one thing Peter said,almost made snap.
"I bet your mommy killed your daddy."he says
Four had to drag me away and back to the dormitories.
"What the hell was that?"he asks me
I hand him the newspaper,he looks it over.
"Is it true?"he asks me
"No,I left by accident. And Caleb always was the smart alec."I said
"Why Dauntless?"he asks me
"Because my mother mentally abandoned us after my father died. It's always just been me and my sister Prim."he says
"Have you told anyone about this?"he asks me
"No,and I don't know why I can trust a hellion like you."I said,crossing my arms
"Because I'm the one keeping you alive."he said
"I can handle myself it's always been that way."I said
"Katniss it isn't wrong to accept help."he says
"You haven't given me a good reason to trust you."I said
"Protecting isn't good enough?"he asks me
"You haven't gained my trust,because it isn't earned easily."I said
I walk away from him,apart of me really wanted to hate him but I couldn't find the strength to hate him.
Because a part of me,wanted to trust him for some odd reason.
I wish I knew why.
