[04/What the shit, Deaton?!]
-
After another long and confusing day of school, Desira exhaustly walked to her motorcycle. She was supposed to meet Deaton again today so he could help her with her powers.
She was kind of glad to have an excuse not to get caught up in whatever everyone else was doing. She strapped on her helmet and in a few minutes she was at Deaton's animal clinic.
"Hey, Deaton, it's Desira," she called as she walked in.
"Hello, Desira. Come on back," he replied as he held the gate open.
Desira walked past him as she had yesterday but she didn't feel as uncomfortable. She was more so excited to learn about the supernatural which somehow Deaton knew all about.
"Hey, Deaton, if you don't mind my asking, how come you know so much about all this supernatural stuff?"
"Ah, well you see, where the supernatural exist, there exists someone to guide and help them. I am one of those guides. There's a technical name for it, but we'll get to that soon."
Desira nodded her head at Deaton. She was glad there was a guide around because she certainly needed one.
"So today, I want to find out what kind of mancer you are. We're going to do a few tests to see what you're capable of."
Desira looked at the table in front of them and saw a variety of items. Everything from a clock, to a bone, to an empty jar. She looked back up to Deaton and he simply nodded at her.
"Just go to want feels natural."
Desira now nodded and rested her hands on the table. Slowly, she let her hand turn to the bone, then it moved to a candle, next a small brain, and finally to the empty jar. Deaton looked at her with an unreadable expression. Fear quickly laced Desira's heart as she waited for his response.
"Quite interesting. It appears you are unlike normal mancers, who tend to fall into one discipline. I've heard of a mancer who was proficient in two arts but not four."
"What does any of this even mean, Deaton?"
"The four artifacts you choose represent necromancy, pryomancy, telemancy, and spatiomancy. The arts of the dead, fire, the brain, and the perception."
"I'm still very confused."
"If you can truly follow all these arts, you can manipulate or speak to the dead. You can control fire and other's minds. And you can manipulate the third dimension almost like alchemy."
"What the shit, Deaton?"
At this remark Deaton let out a cheeriful laugh. It was so pleasant and calm that it instantly relaxed Desira's nerves. Taking this all in is overwhelming but she's glad that it isn't life ending.
"I want you to practice one art at a time for now. Which one would you like to start off with first, Desira?" Deaton asked kindly.
"Whichever one is the least scary."
Deaton laughed again and smiled at Desira, "In that case, I'd go with telemancy."

After four long and grueling hours, Deaton was finished with Desira. In the four hours they had spent working on telemancy, Desira managed to learn how to better read minds, send thoughts, and she poorly attempted to manipulate them. They had practiced on a few animals that where staying at the clinic. Desira successfully managed to hear their thoughts - most of which were how they missed their owners to which Desira replied that they would see them soon.
Desira had quite the headache after this endeavor and she was beyond ready to go home. Looking at the time on her phone, Desira saw that it was only around 8PM. She let out a sigh knowing Stiles and Scott were likely up to something supernatural and she wasn't having it today. Finally, Desira sat on her bike and took off. She decided she was going to go to the library at school and study for a bit.
Desira parked at the lacrosse field and looked onto the field. The team was having practice and she was shocked to see both Stiles and Scott at practice. She would have bet money they would be off doing something else. She decided to watch them practice for a moment before heading to the library. Desira leaned against the metal bleachers and watched Stiles fail at a backstroke. She laughed quietly and shook her head. Scott heard Desira and turned to see her. He motioned for her to sit until they took a break.
It was only a few minutes later that said break came. Scott, Stiles, Liam, and Kira walked to where Desira sat.
"So how'd it go?" Liam asked with excitement.
"Well as it turns out, I'm apparently super unique because I can practice four disciplines instead of one," Desira said with a casual smile.
"Holy shit, what all can you do then?" Stiles now asked.
With a smirk, Desira was far too ready to show them just what she can do.
I can read minds, send thoughts, and even manipulate them to something else.
Four shocked and slightly scared eyes looked at Desira. She sent the thought without even showing her eyes and she did it so easily. To say the group was impressed would be an understatement.
"Well, that's what I learned today alone. I can also control fire, the dead, and the third dimension," Desira now spoke.
"The dead?" Liam said with a shocked expression.
"The dead," Desira said all too calmly, "Ah, I got to go. I want to study some before it gets too late. I'll tell you guys more later. Plus your break is over, so go practice!"
Desira stood and left the four to their practice. She walked to the library and sat down with a sigh as she opened her biology book.
