Everything was quiet. The radiant, shining moon, accompanied by a background of twinkling stars, lit up the midnight sky. The rushing of cars and city noise was drown out by gentle sounds of nature and wind. Most of the city was fast asleep by now, but not Y/N.

Unfortunately, it was a restless night for the exhausted girl, despite how the day's activities had worn her out. No matter how long she lay, staring at her ceiling and trying to close her eyes, sleep just never came.

Frustrated, the sleepless Y/N threw aside her bedcover and sat up on the edge of her mattress. Her eyes flicked to the bedside clock, but the illuminated numbers showed that it was only 1:35. Ten minutes since she had last checked. She let out a long sigh and flopped onto her back.

Why can't I just get some rest!?

After a few moments of laying worlessly on her bed, Y/N stood up and flicked on her bedside lamp. The dim light cast shadows all around her bedroom as she slowly stood up and stretched. Talking to herself, she wondered aloud, "There has to be some sort of remedy for this!" Determinedly, she grabbed her laptop from her dresser and flicked it open, typing up a storm as soon as the screen lit up. The search bar displayed "How to fall asleep easily" as Y/N waited for the results to load. Mere seconds later, she found the webpage she was looking for, a page entitled "The 6 Best At-Home Remedies for Sleepless Nights". Once the page pulled up, her drooping eyes began scanning the information. Most of the methods required prescription medicine or certain products, but finally, Y/N found a suggestion that would most likely suit her needs.

Lavender tea? Well, it's worth a shot.....and the website says that lavender is "aromatic", so why not?

Now that Y/N had found an idea, she shut her laptop screen and set it aside. Then, she wandered out of her room and downstairs, to her kitchen. She switched on a dim light, so as not to alert her family, and began rummaging through the pantry.

Potato chips....no..... chocolate chip cookies? I wish, but no.....ah, tea!

Having found what she needed, Y/N pulled out an oolong tea bag and then began searching for the herbs. Her hand brushed by the soft plant and she grabbed a few pieces, holding the purple flower close to her face to breath in the soft, sweet fragrance. With the lavender and tea bag now in hand, Y/N grabbed a cute, white porcelain teacup and filled it with tap water. Then she stuck it inside the microwave and set the time for about two minutes. While the water heated, she fidgeted with the lavender plant and let it's aroma fill the room.

I really hope this works...it's already so late..

Soon, the beeping timer alerted Y/N that the water was hot enough, so she carefully removed it and then set the tea bag and a few pieces of lavender inside. Then, she picked up the teacup and slowly carried it with her upstairs, flicking off the lights as she made her way to her bedroom.
