♕ ( ♡ lanie's note: Y/N stands for your name! I will be using the pronouns she/her, but feel free to insert whatever pronouns work for you! To fit this story, the reader character will be the Ultimate Spy! Sorry for the title, I'm like the least creative person ever. Also, sorry for the slow update, this took so long to write T-T I kept deleting parts because I just couldn't get the story to go in the direction I wanted. Also, this wouldn't post because my wifi went down for a week due to bad winter storms where I live  )

It all started with a request. One simple, ordinary afternoon, Y/N was walking through a park a few miles from Shuichi's apartment. Her hand was intertwined with the navy-haired boy's soft hand, and they were enjoying the clear, open air and natural calm of the park. However, as time went on, Y/N something was off with Shuichi. He was normally a pretty nervous person, but he seemed to be extra on edge. His eyes were shifting and avoiding eye contact, and he fidgeted with his bangs with his free hand.

After about ten minutes of this odd behavior, Y/N shyly piped up, "Hey....Shuichi? Is everything okay?"

Immediately, his face flushed a deep shade of crimson, guilt building up inside. "E-everything's f-fine Y/N..." As he spoke, his dark eyes remained locked on the ground.

"Shuichi....." Y/N crossed her arms across her chest, realizing something was clearly wrong, "....I know you well enough to know you're lying." Her eyes darted to a bench to the side of the pair before glancing back to her nervous companion. "Here, come sit with me and tell me what's on your mind!" Her voice softened sympathetically and she gestured to a wooden bench underneath a tree. Taking a seat, she placed her hands in her lap and turned over to the detective.

Shuichi sighed, his guilt and the sweet expression of Y/N winning him over. He sat down next to her and finally met her eyes.

"I-I'm sorry for not telling you sooner, it's just....." He paused, taking a breath and moving his navy hair to the side. "There's this case I've been assigned........." His voice trailed off, words getting caught in his throat.

Ohh, so it's about work, Y/N realized. Her boyfriend was a detective at his uncle's agency near the city's center. Well, his official title was junior detective, but he handled just as many, if not more, difficult cases as professionals. As the ultimate detective, he was constantly being flooded with requests, everything from a lost pet to homicide cases. Y/N could understand his stress, she was an ultimate herself. The ultimate spy, to be exact. It was a talent that often put her in near-death situations, but yet, she wouldn't trade it for any other talent. Why? She got to work side by side with Shuichi, going undercover and infiltrating or watching suspects to collect vital information for any case. She and the navy-haired boy had spent many nights sitting together, overwhelmed with work. Once, they were both assigned to a kidnapping case, and they decided to stay at the office overnight to finish filling out a case report with the information they had so far. In the morning, they were so exhausted that they were found fast asleep on Shuichi's desk, both resting their heads in piles of documents and files. That was the first time she realized she had special feelings for what had then been just her work partner. They had started off as business associates, but now they had been dating for almost six months. Thinking of their unlikely connection, Y/N couldn't help but grin.

"If you're really busy, I can help you with some work!" she piped up, sending the boy a smile.

Shuichi took a deep breath, trying to calm down so he could explain to Y/N without stammering (or getting flustered at how close they were sitting to each other ).

Who would have thought a girl with the title 'ultimate spy' would be so sweet and kind?! I guess that's part of her skill, no one would suspect such a cute girl was actually an international secret agent.....
