I stumbled through my front door with a pounding hangover. I trip over my own feet and fall with a loud thud into the living room. I heard footsteps padding along from my mother’s room. Shit. One, two, three, four…

“Fay? Where the hell have you been? I had Forest go out searching for you last night, but nothing came up,” she said frantically. Then she calmed down a little only to freak out again due to my state. “Brona!” she said with a huff.

My mother wasn’t too fond of Brona. She said she was always a bad influence on me. That and Brona sorta happened to sleep with Forest one night because my mother wouldn’t let me go with Brona on vacation this one time. So badda bing badda boom she seduced, very easily I might add, Forest, they did their thing and Brona made sure that they would get caught by my mom.

Did I think it was a bitchy thing to do? Yes very much so, but to tell you the truth I’m not very surprised by Brona’s or Forest’s actions. My mom thinks Brona put Forest under some spell, but to tell you the truth I don’t think she did. She’s beautiful and he’s a creep sooooo…. a person should be able to put two and two together. My mother is in clear denial.

My mother is still going on and on about “Brona this” and “Brona that”, blah, blah, blah. Her voice is rising by the minute and my head is starting to pound mercilessly.

“Geez mom when’s the last time you got laid? You’re more adamant about the Brona situation more than usual. What the hell is going on? Because I’m really not in the mood for a bitch off right now, I don’t know about you,” I sighed and plopped onto the couch. My mother began to throw a hissy fit. Maybe I didn’t choose the best words to say, but hey I’m hungover, tired, and stressed. Give me a break, damn. I began to drift off to sleep, the sound of my mother’s colorful vocabulary lulling me to sleep.

               Knock. Knock.

“Come in,” I replied. I was focusing on painting my toes purple, the tip of my tongue sticking out.

“Faith,” I looked up and saw my mother was all teary eyed. This woman better be going through menopause and not be prego with all these hormones of hers going all out of whack. I gave her an awkward half smile. I put my nail polish away since I was done anyway and cleared a spot for my mom to sit on the bed.

Instead of just sitting on the bed she rushes over and pulls me into a tight hug. I didn’t know how to react to that so I just became stiff. Now she was hysterically crying. I loosened up a bit and began to lull my mom back and forth, trying to calm her down. Yep its official my mother is certifiably emotionally unstable. I pulled away from her and faced her while getting a good grip of her shoulders and I shook her a little.

“Mom pull it together. Stop! Stop it right now and tell me what’s going on, please. You know I hate to see you cry,” I shout. My mother’s breathing becomes less rapid and her sobs turn into little sniffles. She smiles at me weakly. I stare at her begging her with my eyes to tell me what’s up.

“Shirley called yesterday. Throwing death threats towards you and me like it was no big deal. Then she told me about your little deal to spend two weeks with that Anthony at the cabin in Sovey. Why didn’t you tell me you found your mate? Why didn’t you tell me what happened? I could’ve helped! I could’ve been there for you! I love you so much Faith why don’t you ever let me help? But you sure as hell let that Brona lady help you,” she hissed the last sentence. My mother was breathing heavily now. My gaze towards my mother now softens. I put my hand lightly on her shoulder and give her a genuine smile.

“Mom I love and care about you, alright. You never have to worry about that. I didn’t want to burden you with it. You have to do so much already. I don’t want to have you worrying about me twenty-four seven, okay. I can take care of myself. Plus your my mom, Brona can’t replace that, duh,” I smiled.

“Oh stop with the cheesiness Fay it’s disgusting,” my mother joked. We shared a couple more good laughs before she exited my room for the night. After I’ve got Anthony taken care of Shirley is going down. My mother is a point in my life that you never try to harm. Blood will be spilled if I have anything to say about it.
