I felt like changing it up a little and redid the cover, you like? Oh and this story was #62 on the Short Story list and #165 on the Werewolf list, throughout the whole weekend, and that’s the farthest they’ve ever gotten and it made me so flipping happy and its all because of you guys who enjoy my book.

            Thank You

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you know that feeling of your heart just pounding in your chest so hard and rapidly that it feels as though it was going to pump right out of your chest? That’s how I felt right now with a dash of feeling irrevocably sorry for myself.

“Stupid, stupid, stupid!” I shouted in distressed. I banged my hands against the cool stone cellar floor. I awoke to this damp and dark dungeon just minutes ago and reminisced what had just occurred before I blacked out.

I should’ve just stuck to the plan and none of this would of never happened. I let my heart get in the way of my clear judgment.

My blood began to boil on how I even let him touch me. The thought of kissing him, willingly at that, made me feel disgusted with myself.

How could he have stoop so low? I guess I do have to give him props though for being as sneaky and conniving as he was. That was impressive.

Images of what had happened to us in the past week or so flashed through my mind cinematically. I laughed out bitterly as I pulled my knees to my chest.

The air in the cellar was chilled to my bones. I can’t do anything now but sit and wait; just sit and wait.

All of a sudden there was a frantic disperse of artificial light, that was much more powerful then the moonlight that accumulated from my little window, if you could even call it a window, it being barred off and all.

The sound of clinking footsteps neared me slowly. Once they had reached my cell I didn’t even bother looking up. I just snuggled my face into my knees. Why even bother, you know?

A gruesome whole hearted feminine laugh bounced off the cellar walls. She tapped on the barred doors of my cage.

“Eh I always thought you’d be locked up. I just didn’t think like this.” I lifted my head slightly so my eyes peeked over my bare knees. There she was in all her glory, Ms. Shirley Parcell.

Even though her voice was jokingly her face was hard. No expression escaped her. I bit the inner corner of my bottom lip as a nervous reaction.

I can’t take her pompous speech right now. I just can’t. It’s the last thing I need.

“I’m not here to make you feel awful Fay. I’m just here to ask a few harmless questions.” Her arms were crossed and she stood tall in her usual position looking down upon me. I just remained still pondering on what she was about to speak of.

“I assume Anthony has told you about the whole bond and mate situation between the two of you,” I nodded, “Well that’s good because I really hate talking about it. Moving on, Fay do you know why you are here? You are here because our little Anthony is a traitor. Unlike you and Gordon I was smart enough to get away in time.”

I looked up at her confused. What did that big idiot do now?

“What do you mean traitor?”

Shirley sighed and pushed her hair back from her forehead before closing her eyes.

When she turned her stare to me again her eyes looked remorseful and had a look in them that made my stomach churn.

“Brona…Brona and Anthony teamed up against us, to take over werewolf society as unoriginal as it sounds, but it’s also much more than that Fay, it is for revenge. Brona wants me dead and Gordon all to herself. She’s just using Anthony as a puppet to get under Gordon’s skin and Anthony doesn’t even know it.

Anthony has no bond with you anymore, but you still do with him, confusing I know. I’ll explain later, we don’t have much time if we want to save your mother,” she spoke frantically.

“My mom? Is she okay? What the hell is going on Shirley? Everything is happening all at once.”

She started to bend the bars to let me through, making the metal create a disturbing creaking noise. Never in a million years would I think that Shirley would be saving me from whatever I need saving from.

I leaped out of my cage stumbling a bit. The next thing I know Shirley is sprouting wings that I guess I would consider to be massive and fairy like.

They glinted in the moonlight, their burnish making me hypnotized. So pretty.

“Ahem,” she breathed out. I looked towards her face to see a smirk rising on her lips. We both laughed softly together.

“Well this is…different to say the least.” She motioned me to come near her She made me cling to her and well we were floating in the air gingerly. My arms clung from her neck tightly. I hate being airborne. I don’t like it one bit.

“Hold on, oh and watch your head.”

“What do you mean…” and the next thing I know Shirley is dispersing fire from her mouth. Um, what? I peeked up at her and she still wore that smirk as she looked down upon me. The metal wall was melting away and the powerful smell filled the air.

“There’s a lot you don’t know about me Fay and in time you will have all the answers.”

I heard cries and screams but I didn’t bother to look at the scene below. I just kept my eyes on Shirley as we flew up into the night sky. We were in an uninhabited forestry area I’m guessing do to the surrounding scent.

“Where are we going now?”

“We are off to the retreat.”

“Excuse me?” I scrunched up my nose, causing Shirley to laugh.

“It’s not a vacation resort Fay. It’s a place where people like us go for safety.”

“Define ‘people like us’,” I remarked quizzically staring up at Shirley’s now serious face as she stared out into the distance.

            “Special.”

Well that was helpful. After that there was no more words shared and silence consumed us. This left me to realize just how sleepy I really was. I slowly drifted off to sleep once again, with the buzzing hymn of Shirley’s wings.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brona paced the meeting room and hasn’t spoken a word to me since I told her what had happened to cause the fire. She didn’t react like I thought she was going to which was a relief.

It’s her own fault for bringing Fay into this. She knows what her destiny is and how precious she is to my grandmother.

Do I feel bad for what I have done? I can honestly say yes I do, but it has to be this way, at least for a little while until I can avenge my own priorities with Brona. I just need to pretend for a little while longer. Just a little while longer and then we can be together Fay. Don’t give up on me just yet. I’m sorry, yet again, but this is how it needs to be. It’s the only way I’ll be able to keep you safe.
