Percy and Audrey
Percy left. The moment the war was declared a victory he slipped away from his family and disapparated, leaving the Wizarding World for what he thought would be forever. He blamed himself for Fred’s death and could not bear to face his family and what he had done. He felt like a pigheaded git for becoming a ministry obsessed moron, and he could not forgive himself even if everyone else did. When he found himself in Muggle London he immediately went to work. Although he had no credentials for the Muggle world, he made himself a few before breaking his wand in two and letting it fall down a drain, never to be seen again. After adjusting to the Muggle lifestyle, he quickly climbed the corporate ladder and became the CEO of a leading electricity company.
At first, the rest of the Weasleys sent him letters, begging him to come home and telling him again and again that they forgave him. Percy never replied to them, even when Pigwidgeon came and pecked his hands until they bled. He threw the tiny owl out the window yelling at him to go back to where he came from and tried to bandage his hands. Hopeless as he was with most things Muggle, besides the fiscal world of course, he quickly gave up and tied them up as best he could before heading to the emergency room a few blocks away. That’s where he met Audrey. He found himself lost for words as he looked at the nurse of about twenty-three with auburn waves pulled back in a ponytail. Audrey was wearing a pink smock that brought out her rosy cheeks and brown-gold eyes. She was smiling reassuringly as she cleaned and wrapped up Percy’s hands, laughing at his sudden speechlessness. She had seen him on the news and knew who he was in the corporate world, but this soft side was something she had never imagined before and found simply irresistible.
They started dating soon after and after a year, Percy finally asked Audrey to marry him. They were the perfect fit for each other, he said, Audrey was the only person able to get him to stop working late, the only person who really cared about his opinion. She knew however, the instant she laid her eyes on him, that he was keeping secrets and that he’d been through an eternity in his 24 years. Yet she knew that he would tell her when he was ready. When he asked her to marry him, Audrey couldn’t have been happier, but she had to know what he was keeping. No more secrets. That was the promise of their engagement and then marriage.
So, a few days after the engagement, Percy and Audrey took the train to Ottery St. Catchpole and he took her hand and they walked up to the Burrow. Molly opened the door still talking to whoever was inside the house so she didn’t see who it was at first, but when she did turn, all Percy said was, “Hi, Mum,” and she screamed his name before hugging him more tightly than he would have thought the graying woman would be able to. It wasn’t long before Arthur joined them and Percy offered him a hand to shake. Arthur took it and then pulled his son into a tight hug. That was when Molly spotted Audrey. Immediately she pounced on the younger woman, asking a million and one questions. Audrey was overwhelmed, she did not even know that these people were magical, and Percy had to try several times before Molly would calm down enough so they could explain.
As soon as Molly heard they were getting married she was planning. Trying to figure out how to include Audrey’s friends and family but still have all the Weasleys and Potters attend. Somehow Molly managed to plan the wedding to be outside the chapel in Ottery St. Catchpole and within a few weeks. Audrey looked beautiful on her wedding day in a beautiful flowing white gown. Her cheeks glowed pink as she walked down the aisle to where Percy was standing in a tuxedo, the grin on his face broad and true. Audrey and Percy Weasley were married on June 24th 2002 and their first daughter, named after her paternal grandmother, was born a little over a year later on November 2nd 2003. Four years later, Lucy, named after her maternal grandmother, was born as well.
