That Summer

Chapter 10

“I brought her here.” Niall said, appearing from behind Claire.

I let go of Claire and tackled Niall with a hug. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” I screamed.

“You’re welcome!” He laughed. “You needed some cheering up and I figured this would be the best way to go.”

I got off of Niall and helped him up. “That’s the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me.” I hugged him again.

“Are you happy?”

“I’m more than happy.” I kissed his cheek and ran to Claire, hugging her again.

“What’s with all the screaming?” Harry chuckled, stepping out of the room.

“Harry! Meet Claire, my ‘sister’!” I giggled.

“It’s nice to meet you, Claire.” He smiled shaking her hand.

“It’s nice to meet you too.” She smiled back. Ahg! I missed you so much, Liz!“

“I’ve missed you too! We have so much to catch up on!”

“I think that’s our que to leave, Harry.” Niall said dragging him away, leaving Claire and I.

“Niall is so sweet!” Claire squealed when they were gone.

“He’s the best.” I smiled.

“I think he kind of likes you.” She teased, poking me.

“Nah. He’s like my best friend.”

“Whatever you say.” She said dropping onto my bed.

I wanted to tell her about Harry more than anything but I knew I couldn’t. We weren’t ready to go public, or at the very least tell our friends and family.  “So, what’s been going on with you?” I asked sitting next to her on my bed.

“Nothing much. It’s been so boring without you around.” Claire sighed.

“I would be having so much more fun if you were here with me too.”

“How amazing has it been working with One freaking Direction? You hanging out with them in a huge deal in the celebrity gossip world.”

“It’s been an incredible experience. They’re all so sweet. I feel like I have five protective older brothers, especially Liam.” I laughed.

“Are you sure you don’t like any of them? Well, minus Louis and Liam since they have girlfriends.”

“Why are you being so pushy about my being more than friends with one of them?”

“Why not, Liz? You’re hot, their hot, you obviously get along very well with them and I think it would be good for you to move on.”

“It wouldn’t work, Claire. I’m not famous and I don’t just want a summer fling. Besides, half the summer is over.” I said looking at my hands. Was being with Harry a good idea? I was slowly starting to doubt our relationship, if that’s even when we have.

“Being famous has nothing to do with it. Louis and Liam’s girlfriends aren’t famous.” Claire pointed out.

“Let’s just drop it, okay?” I asked standing up. “You must be hungry. Let’s go out and eat.”

“Fine.” She sighed getting up.

I pressed the elevator button and we waited for it to open. “Elizabeth!” I heard someone shout. “Wait!” It was Louis, followed by Liam and Zayn.

“Hey guys.” I laughed.

“Niall told us your sister is here. Can we meet her?” Louis asked excitedly.
