"Damon, you're a genius"
After a few more months, each one making the loneliness even harder, she tried to end it. Desperately. She had drunk the bottle Damon and her had promised to drink only before dying. And then, she got ready to die. It would be better than living here, alone, facing the same day over and over again.
But when she was ready and about to say goodbye to like, a magical presence stopped her and showed her a way. A way to home. So yeah, she presumed it was Damon, because it could only be Damon who was feeling guilty and wanted to help her. Who else could know she was there, except him?
But, once again, she would have to do all the work alone, because no one was here to save her, as always. She should be mad, and only motivated to get out so that she could yell to anyone that she did it on her own, that no one could save her. But she could not feel that. She was way too tired to think about the fact that no one was devoted enough to save her. No one was acting like her. If she was the one alive, she would even risk her own life to bring back the loved missing one. But no one was like her, not even Damon, especially not Damon.
For the first time in her whole life, she drove Damon's car. It was quite good, imagining his disapproval before remembering that he wasn't there anyway to do a damn thing about it. Was could he even say? It wasn't his real car, and even if It was, she didn't care. She drove fast, so fast that even if no one could be here, it was still scary. But she couldn't stop, she had to get home, she needed to, it was like breathing.

Losing Liz was one more step closer to loneliness. He had lost Bonnie, because of him, and he had just lost Liz, because of life. One more friend... He thought about all this time he helped Liz, at the beginning only to save his ass from the sheriff. And then they became friends, and then she covered all his murders, helped him and the gang solving stuff, protecting the town.
It was in their common desire to make this sweet place that was Mystic Falls that they actually became friends. Liz was like a second mother for Damon, considering he lost his own mother, such a long time ago. And he cared about her... Like he cared about Bonnie.
Sitting in the kitchen of the boarding house, his heart jumped at the image of the little witch, his little witch that suddenly came out in his head. Why trying to write a good speech for Liz's funeral was turning into something about Bonnie?!
Bonnie...
"Like your locator spell? What the hell do we need you then?"
He had told her when Ric was out of his mind, holding Caroline and Elena hostage. Why was he thinking about that now? What was there such an urge to find Bonnie to tell her that yes, they did need her? He remembered her look, the same look she often gave it to him ever since. A mix of amusement and a will to kill him. He had to admit, he loved teasing her like this, because no matter her response, he liked it. He liked her.
"All that power, isn't a way to increase your odds?"
Asking her this while dancing with her was an attempt to reassure him, to be sure she wouldn't die in the hand of Klaus, and even Bonnie did notice it. But he couldn't help himself. He needed to get to her before the final fight, he needed to know that it wasn't only a suicide mission, a suicide mission he almost planned for her. No, he needed to know that he didn't just send her to death, like that.
"Be careful Damon, I might start to think you actually care!
-We don't want that!"
What else could he respond? "I care Bonnie, but I'm way too smart for you to see" Or maybe he should have told her: "Come on, we both know I'm asking because you're the only chance to save Elena!" But it wasn't about Elena this time. Has it been this long since Damon was doing things for Bonnie and only for Bonnie?
"When things come down between you and Bonnie, I will gladly let Bonnie die."
He said it, and maybe at this time, he did mean it. At least he thought he did.
He heard Elena sitting next to him, seeing the blank page in front of him and he felt her hand on his neck. But even if it was an attempt to reassure him, it just didn't work. He faked a smile, pretending it was because of this speech for Liz. It was true, partially true.
When she left, he thought once again about Liz, about his own mom, but his mind couldn't seem to be able to fight Bonnie out of his mind.

Coming home wasn't an easy task. But as she got closer to this one and only goal, excitement won her whole body as she started to think about what she will do, who she will see first.
Damon.
This is the image that came directly in her mind. Was it the excitement that she felt, making her tighten the keys of the car, or was it anger, and resentment against him? She thought about Damon her during those months together, only together, and how she started to like his presence. When you spend time with only one person, maybe you don't have another choice to like him to not go crazy. It must be that, it was because she was alone with Damon, she had to like him. And yet, a part of her, a huge part of her that was keeping increasing, wanted to see him, like right now. She wanted to hug him and see how he was doing. Was he okay despite the fact that Kai was in their life? Did he know what Kai did to her? Did Damon avenge her?
But to do that, she had to succeed to go home. Will she finally get out, before going mad?
