The Translator • Agust D x Reader

Chapter 1

Y/N's pov

My name is Y/N and I have been living in an apartment in Seoul, Korea since 2015. I work as a translator in a really small company. Every now and then I work as a translator for some idols in their foreign interviews. Recently a company named bighit offered me a job as a permanent translator for one of their most famous solo artists , Agust d. The job offers really good money so I resigned from my previous job and accepted the offer from bighit.

My eyes burst open the minute the first ray of sunshine hit them. I nervously got up and grabbed my phone that was located on the side of my bed.

6:00 AM

Normally I wouldn't be so nervous but today was a quite special day. I was about to meet my new boss and the idol I'd work for.

I would love to put on some fancy clothes but I didn't really have the money to do so..Anyway, I threw on some casual clothes and wore my favorite beanie.

Luckily for me, it wasn't that cold outside so I didn't have to worry about the weather. I called a taxi, got in and provided him with the instructions needed to reach my destination.

"So, where are we going?"
"I need you to take me to Bighit Entertainment..and fast!"

I sat back and took a deep breath as the driver drove past other cars.

I shouldn't be nervous, everything will be fine...

The taxi driver parked the car outside of the entrance of the building and after thanking him with a respectful bow and paying him, I stepped out of the taxi.

"Hey, good luck kid!"
"Thank you, sir~!"

I smiled at him as he drove away and I was left alone, standing in front of the two bodyguards. One of them greeted me and offered to take me to Mr. Bang, the manager.

As I walked inside the building along with the guard, I felt a shiver down my spine. The building was so luxurious and big - Was I really qualified for this job?

The guard suddenly stopped in his tracks and informed me that the office was at the end of the hallway. I thanked him and continued alone as he made his way out again.

I stood in front of the door and sighed before finally making the decision to knock on the door. After a few seconds I heard a voice from inside the room.

"Come in.."

I gulped and opened the door, warily stepping inside. I bowed to the old man in front of me and he smiled.

"Y/N, welcome to Bighit Entertainment.. Please, take a seat."
"..Thank you."

I replied and sat down in front of Mr. Bang.

Although I was really nervous Mr.Bang seemed genuinely nice and suddenly I began feeling more confident about myself.

"I am very glad you decided to come, Mrs. Y/N. We have been looking for a translator for quite a while now and you seem really promising."

"The pleasure is mine, Mr. Bang."
I smiled widely at him.

"So, you will be starting tomorrow. Agust D will have to attend an interview after winning an award at The American Awards. Of course, after the interview is over you will be paid immediately."

I nodded and he continued his speech.

"Also, you will have to work long hours some days or even travel with Yoongi in different places he will visit. And do not worry about costs, everything will be paid by Bighit, including your outfits."
"..Thank you for letting me know. I accept your offer."

Suddenly he turned to look at me with a concerned expression.

"But before you sign the contract..I will have to inform you about Mr. Min."
"Mr..Min?"
"Yes. Min Yoongi, or Agust D as you may know him, turns out to be moody or irritating most of the time.. Hence why his previous translator decided to resign."

He spoke in a calm tone but I could feel my heart beating... Was he really that annoying that I would have to quit too?

"..But you won't have to worry about that, I am sure you will do great."
"I will try my best..."
I exclaimed and after talking about him a little more about details I got out of the room, visibly happy with the results.

To be honest, I was beyond satisfied with my new job, especially the payment.

I am not familiar with many Korean artists but this guy, Agust D, sure had a reputation because of the way he rapped.

According to his fans and Mr.Bang , he always put emotion into his work and overall had a talent in delivering his message to the Korean youth.

However, his labelmates would frequently criticise him for his cold and rude behaviour. One of his previous translators even quit her job because of his impatience.

To be honest, I'm not sure what to think of this yet, but since Bighit pays a lot I have decided to take on the job.

It won't be that bad... Right?
