The cool breeze was picking up in the garden. Larks' Estate was such a sight to see in the early Summer, and the garden was my favorite part.

I sat comfortably on the bench just beside the little fountain in the center of the garden, one of my favorite books clutched in my hand. I had spent nearly the entire day out here, reading, breathing in the sweet smell of honeysuckles and the fresh scent of the June air.

I closed my eyes peacefully and smiled, enjoying the feel of the breeze on my face. A soft call came from the mansion, and I opened my eyes to look. Sara stood at the back door, hands on her hips and a smirk on her lips. I stood from the bench and took my crutch, limping rather skillfully up to the home.

"You called?" I asked as I reached the tall woman, raising an eyebrow at her in question.

Sara chuckled softly and reached out, patting my shoulder. I had grown rather fond of Sara in the time I had gotten to know her.

Since that day at the trailer park, so much had happened. Memories of the hospital flashed in my head. Sara had told me I had been in and out of consciousness for weeks, barely able to eat, Preston had to help me keep down even just water. After coming out, it took me a while to even muster up the courage to speak. But I had made it. It had been two months since Dahlia's evil reign had come to an end, and I was recovering more and more every day.

My leg would never be the same. They had left the bullet in my leg to rot and infect, and now I was left with a permanent limp and a crutch I'd never be without. But to be alive was a miracle. And to be in this home, with the people I loved most, was even more so.

Sara cracked a large grin as she looked me up and down. "You get stronger every day, boy. Looks like my work here is done."

I tilted my head in surprise, feeling the confusion wash over me. "What do you mean?"

Sara's eyes shown with sadness, and if I was mistaken, it looked as though a tear had sprung in the corner of her eye. She sniffled softly and pulled me into a somewhat awkward side hug. "It's my last day, kid," she replied, patting my back gently. "I'm heading back to Headquarters. I have fulfilled the job I was hired to do, and now I need to leave. I thought I'd come say goodbye before I left."

A pang of sadness seemed to take over my own emotions as I smiled back at her. As weird as our relationship had been in the time I had spent here, the woman had saved my life and I would be forever grateful to her for that.
